The trip down to Thamesmead proved fruitful for the Hamlet as they notched up their first win of the pre-season campaign in fine style against a 'Mead side swimming with experience and looking to emulate last term's play-off push.

Kevin James opened the scoring for the visitors on 21 minutes with an adroit header after Nyren Clunis whipped in the sweetest crosses from the right flank. The lively James was a fraction away from adding a second with a curling free kick from just outside the box that grazing the top of 'keeper Steve Northwood's goal but Dulwich had to be thankful to Dave King between the sticks for ensuring they took that lead into the halftime interval. Former Hamlet defender Lewis Tozer met an injury time corner from Ryan Briggs with a forceful header but the big former Tooting custodian made a vital save to touch the effort over the crossbar.

Dulwich withdrew James for the second half, his replacement Sol Pinnock making it 2-0 to the Hamlet shortly before the hour mark. Once more the catalyst was Clunis; his pace and industry on the wing culminating in a low cross slashed wide of substitute 'keeper Sam Mott and expertly dispatched by Pinnock arriving out of the gloom to slam the ball home. Two minutes later Clunis capped his dazzling display with deserved goal all of his own. Latching on to a pinpoint pass dissecting the 'Mead centre halves, Clunis cut a shot back across the advancing Mott to make it three.

The Hamlet management used that cushion to allow more of his squad the chance to impress and they did not disappoint though they could not add to the advantage. Instead it was the hosts who inched their way back into contention with a clinically dispatched goal courtesy of substitute Gabriel Momundo who met a cross in from the left delivered by twin brother Raphael, the long-range strike curling away from the hand of the diving King.
