ASHFORD TOWN RESIGN FROM THE LEAGUE
21.07.10
After a summer that has seen the Nuts'n'Bolts stumble from one crisis into another as a directorial spat has grown uglier by the hour. Suspended from all football due to problems over transfer fees owed, mired in a court battle for ultimate supremacy in the boardroom that seems to have dragged nomadic tenants Maidstone into more predicaments now Ashford Town seem to have conceded defeat having announced that they will resign from the Ryman League with immediate effect. The Kent club have stated that they intend to seek membership of the Kent League though that may be up in the air as the Kent League has already published its opening fixtures.
The Ryman League issued the following statement yesterday (Tuesday 20th July 2010):
"At a Board Meeting this morning the Directors of the League were disappointed to receive the resignation of Ashford Town FC from the League with immediate effect.
"The Board has taken the opportunity to move Chatham Town FC from Division One North to the South division to replace Ashford Town.
"Ashford wish to move to the Kent League and the League will not object to this providing all monies due to the League are paid.
"The League hopes to issue the fixture list for both divisions during tomorrow, Wednesday 21 July."
