ON THE WHISTLE REPORT | Hamlet victorious in the League
Bradley Quinton has his first league win as Dulwich Hamlet manager.
It was the Hamlet who challenged the keeper the most in the opening 10 minutes and were rewarded as David Bremang gave Dulwich the early lead. He controlled the ball with one touch and smashed it home from 12 yards out.
Pure hunger for more goals came in the following 15 minutes, Danny Mills forced David Hughes into a great save at the near post and Max Hudson’s cross found Amaru Kaunda and his header just skimmed the crossbar.
Danny Mills dinked the ball over the Bowers right back and continued his run to shoot, his attempt is saved, but not collected by the keeper and it was Bremang with his second who was first to pounce to the keeper error.
Skipper Riley Scott chested a loose ball down, his shot was blocked but not cleared and Michael Chambers was there to pick up the pieces, in what looked to be the slowest goal to cross the line ever, to give The Hamlet a 3-0 lead 10 minutes before half time.
Bremang nearly had a first half hat-trick after he was one on one with Hughes in goal, but it was a great point blank save in the middle of the box which saw Bremang’s attempt go inches wide of the post.
An absolutely incredible save from Barnes to keep the clean sheet intact in the first half. He denied a header from Quentin Monville after a promising free kick delivered into the box.
A first half performance which showed drive, determination, and domination from Bradley Quinton’s side.
It was a quiet start to the second half with only a couple of notable attempts, one from Bremang who found himself open and in plenty of space in the penalty box, but his shot hit the wrong part of his foot and went miles wide.
Luca Albon’s free kick from 25 yards out was goal-bound until Barnes got a glove to tip it onto the post.
Substitute Luke Wanadio nearly got himself involved in the scoring just three minutes after coming on, he collected the ball on the right hand side, from a blocked shot from Kaunda, and Wanadio’s shot is sent just over the crossbar.
Dillon Barnes thoroughly deserved his clean sheet after pulling off some magnificent saves throughout the game.
A composed performance from Quinton’s Hamlet sees us four points clear of the drop with another home game on Tuesday night against Folkstone Invicta.
