Williams Shakespeare's Cymbeline at Champion Hill

Williams Shakespeare's Cymbeline at Champion Hill

With no football action on the pitch for a while, how about some Shakespeare action to keep you entertained until we go again? Following the success of Hamlet at The Hamlet last year – including a rousing rendition of ‘Here Comes the Dulwich’ in the graveyard scene - this time the renowned Factory Theatre Company will be performing Shakespeare’s Cymbeline at Champion Hill, on Thursday 18 June at 7pm. The performance falls within World Refugee Week, and The Factory is supporting Compass Collective - an arts charity supporting young refugees and asylum seekers through creative projects - with this unique show. All profit from ticket sales will be donated to Compass Collective. And to help raise as much as possible, the Dulwich Hamlet Supporters’ Trust has kindly sponsored the performance. After previous Refugee Week events – including a 24-hour reading of Shakespeare’s complete works and a record attempt for simultaneous stagings of A Midsummer Night’s Dream – the Compass Collective initiative for 2026 is to invite people across the UK to ‘stage a reading or performance of a play – anywhere, with anyone.’ So, join us for Cymbeline at Champion Hill. Filled with romance, deception, humour, and jaw-dropping action - not unlike the football! - Cymbeline is one of Shakespeare’s most underrated yet irresistibly entertaining tales. In amongst the fairy tale archetypes of wronged princess, wicked stepmother, villainous trickster and long-lost princes, you'll find nuanced meditations on toxic masculinity, jealousy, power, fate and forgiveness, shot through with breathtaking humanity. Also like the football, a Factory Theatre show is different every time. With a changing squad of actors and no pre-arranged staging, the story and how it's told is discovered afresh each time. We’ll start in the clubhouse bar and after that we don’t know what will happen. Come dressed for outside as well as in and be prepared to follow the action wherever it takes us. You may even see some familiar-faced Hamlet fans in the playing squad! Our upstairs bar has no step free access
