Mishi Morath Poetry Competition Winners Announced
Well it’s almost five years since Mishi left us for that Champion Hill in the clouds. I am sure in his magical place, the Hamlet have made it to the FA Cup Final beating T@@ting, Leatherhead, Millwall, Man U and Leeds United on the way and probably West Ham in the semi.
I am sure he’s still astonished by the level of support Dulwich are still getting. Let’s be honest, we have had a couple of awful seasons in that time but the turnstiles keep clicking. He’d have been so proud and happy.
Mishi’s poetry book has been a roaring success and the launch night in the clubhouse was quite amazing. It’s still available from the club shop, all good local bookshops like Chener Books on Lordship Lane or Rye Books on North Cross Road. Today again, in that wonderful happy combination in Mishi’s life we have pupils from St Anthony’s school which Mishi went to, in Dulwich of course, who have entered the poetry contest that is sponsored in his memory.
The only final bit of the jigsaw now for Mishi, would have been the new ground being built with its all weather pitch, ready for all the community to use, from youngsters to older and less able bodied people playing walking football.
For Mishi, if Dulwich wasn’t a key part of the community then it wasn’t anything. He lived every moment of his life inspiring people to believe the same and Dulwich owe a lot to him for kick starting it all off.
