Rosie Stone announces her Retirement

Midfielder Rosie Stone has announced her retirement from the game at the end of the season.

Rosie joined the Dulwich Hamlet Family when AFC Phoenix merged with the club in 2019 and has made 74 appearances for the first team and has scored 10 goals during that time. Previously at AFC Phoenix she made 20 appearances, scoring 3 goals.

Chairman Ben Clasper said "I was sad to hear Rosie's announcement especially coming so soon after Brit's retirement as it means we have to say goodbye to two foundations of our women's team at the same time. One of the keys to the success of the team was retaining as much of the ethos of AFC Phoenix as possible and to allow that to evolve alongside the culture of Dulwich Hamlet FC and I believe that has been instrumental in creating what we all love about this team".

"Without players like Rosie that would never have happened and Rosie will have a place in our history books that can never be overwritten becoming the first women's player to reach 50 appearances for the new DHWFC. I watched the final game for Phoenix when they just missed out on the title against Kent Football United in which, if memory serves, Rosie scored the last league goal before their move to DHFC (also the first goal at Champion Hill) and so I really hope this season delivers what would be a fitting finale to that story. Thank you Rosie and as always with the Phoenix visionaries who saw the potential in us I hope you continue to be a part of this club and the team you built."
