REPORT | Chichester City vs Dulwich Hamlet | Isthmian League | 01/10/24

The Hamlet headed south on Tuesday night in search of an immediate reaction to Saturdays humiliation at Bowers & Pitsea.

They visited a Chichester side who have scored at every game at Oaklands Park so far this season.

It would take the visitors just 8 minutes to have a chance at goal. Max Hudson whipped in a beautiful ball for Oli Lynch but his shot was saved as the keeper got down to deny Lynch his first goal in pink & blue.

Seven minutes later and Hudson would again cause issues with a cross, this time he found Mark Marshall at the back post but his volley was saved with ease by the hosts keeper.

Three minutes after that and Chichester would have their first big chance of the game. They broke down the left hand side and unleashed a strike only for Louis Ramsay to clear of the line.

Lynch would have his 2nd chance of the game on the 20th minute after Ryley Scott picked him out but his shot evaded the keeper only to be cleared off the line.

As the 30th minute approached Jameson Horlick would be called into action for the 1st time, he got down low to deny the hosts the lead as he tipped a long range strike wide of the post.

Despite a largely dominant first 45 the Hamlet would go in at the break level with Chichester doing well to deny the visitors the lead on a number of occasions.

It would take just 2 minutes for Oli Lynch to cause issues once again. Max Hudson made another driving run down the left wing and found the striker in the box but his shot went agonisingly wide of the post.

Lynch would turn provider on the 53rd minute, this time he played the ball back to Ralfi Hand after a brilliant run but Hand would see his strike saved by the keeper.

With 28 minutes to go Chichester thought they had the ball over the line only for the referee to wave away appeals to keep the scores level

As we approached the final stages of the 2nd half Lynch would have his final chance to break the deadlock, Jerome Binnom-Williams made a driving run and dinked the ball towards Lynch but his header was saved.

That would be the final major chance of the game as a dominant Hamlet couldn't quite break the deadlock, but they do become the 1st visiting team to keep a clean sheet at Oaklands Park picking up a valuable point on the road.
