REPORT | Dulwich Hamlet vs Hastings United
In front of a capacity crowd of 3,334 a brace from Luke Wanadio and a late Danny Mills goal secured a comfortable 3-0 victory for the Pink and Blue.
What was an even contest changed in the space of five first-half minutes as Hamlet’s top scorer took his tally to ten for the season.
The first, which came in the 29th minute, was made by Oli Lynch who freed Wanadio in the left-hand channel. The winger took a couple of touches to compose himself before sliding it under the onrushing Louis Rogers.
The second was a team effort as Hamlet’s high press caused a turnover in the Hastings box. Although Wanadio’s first strike was blocked, The Wizard made no mistake with the second, squeezing it under Rogers from a tight angle.
The away side did have chances of their own with George Walker missing a one-on-one (at 0-0) and Davide Rodari striking the outside of the post.
We were on top though and hit the woodwork on three occasions before extending our lead, with Lynch, Wanadio and Binnom-Williams the unlucky trio.
Substitutes Antony Jeffrey and Danny Mills, who had been on the pitch for less than two minutes, combined for the third, with the latter slotting home from close range after Jeffrey’s shot had been blocked on the line.
It’s now three clean sheets in a row in all competitions for The Hamlet, and we remain fifth in the table and well and truly in the playoff hunt. Next Saturday we welcome high-flying Billericay to Champion Hill.
