REPORT | London Bees vs Dulwich Hamlet | FAWNL | 8/9/24

The Hamlet headed north on Sunday afternoon to take on a winless London Bees in North London.

These 2 sides clashed last season in the 23/24 FA Cup. The Hamlet came out on top pulling of a cup shock for the ages against Bees who were at that point 2 leagues higher in front of a then record crowd of 647 at Champion Hill.

The Hamlet backed by well over a hundred supporters almost had the lead after 5 minutes following a goal mouth scramble only for the hosts to clear it away.

A minute later and the hosts would take the lead following a successful counter attack firing them ahead after just 6 minutes.

Seven minutes later and we'd almost be level as Phoebe Leitch fired her shot against the cross bar.

London Bees would double their lead minutes later from a corner which the Hamlet failed to deal with.

We'd have a chance to get back into the game as Dunbar-Bonnie won a penalty after being taken down in the area and Lily Price stepped up and calmly dispatched her penalty into the bottom corner.

London Bees would again go close from a corner this time a well worked routined led to a header striking the woodwork just before half time.

Minutes into the 2nd half and we'd find ourselves level. The hosts failed to deal with a cross and Goddard climbed highest to head the ball home.

As the Hamlet chased the lead the hosts would strike again with another well worked counter attack.

With 15 to go the game would be turned on its head once more. This time it was Morgan Searle who levelled the scoring as the Bees failed to deal with a Hamlet cross which gave Searle space to smash the ball home.

The final turn of the game would come 6 minutes later as the hosts would once again fire themselves ahead again with a long ball that missed the head of Corrigan allowing a Bees striker space to slot home.
