CAPTAIN'S COLUMN | Cheshunt | 15/8/26
Hello everyone and welcome back for this afternoon’s game against Cheshunt at Champion Hill, I hope we can replicate last weekend’s performance in front of goal today.
Saturday was obviously a great result it’s not often you get to be a part of results like that. We want to turn Champion Hill into a fortress this year, like we did towards the end of last season. Saturday’s result is key to that.
We know that we’ll experience highs and lows this season as a group but if we can turn Champion Hill into a ground that clubs fear visiting then we’ll be in a great place come April.
Tuesday night was incredibly disappointing; we want to win every game. We knew Chatham were going to be a tough test. As a group we know we need to be better at defending set pieces as ultimately that is what lost us the game.
Yes, the result wasn’t what we wanted but the group has reset, and we’re fully focussed on the challenge of Cheshunt this afternoon. I hope that at 5pm this evening we’ll be celebrating 3 more points on the board as we look to make it back-to-back home wins.
Cheshunt is always a tough game, they’re physical and difficult to break down but at Champion Hill anything is possible.
On a personal note, it’s been a great start scoring 3 goals in 2 games, I always enjoy scoring for this club, it’s a target myself and the management team have set and I’m looking forward to hopefully getting to celebrate more goals with you Home and Away.
As always thank you for your brilliant support, you really are a 12th man.
Nyren.
