MANAGER NOTES | Cheshunt | 15/8/26
Good afternoon and welcome back to Champion Hill.
After the opening week of the season, we've already experienced the full range of emotions that football can bring. Last Saturday’s performance against Maldon showed exactly what this group is capable of, while Tuesday night’s result at Chatham reminded us that this game has a way of keeping everyone grounded. That's football, and it's why we love it.
What I can tell you is that belief within the dressing room remains as strong as ever. The players, staff and everyone around the club are fully committed to making this a season to remember. We know there will be challenges along the way and there will undoubtedly be difficult moments, but there is a real determination throughout the camp to achieve something special together.
Today we welcome Cheshunt to Champion Hill. They've started the season in impressive fashion with two clean sheets from their opening two fixtures, and they're a side we found difficult to overcome last season. We know the challenge that awaits us this afternoon, but we're focused on putting Tuesday behind us and delivering the response our supporters deserve.
I'd also like to take a moment to send our very best wishes to their former manager Mel, who stepped down during the summer due to health reasons. Everyone connected with the club wishes him well .
Looking ahead, we face a demanding run of fixtures throughout August. Every game will test us, but they're also opportunities to show our character, continue improving and pick up valuable points. The attitude from the squad has been excellent, and we're excited about what lies ahead.
Finally, to our supporters: thank you. Your backing home and away, last Saturday and again on Tuesday night, was outstanding. The atmosphere you create gives the players an extra lift, and your support never goes unnoticed. Keep singing, keep believing, and together let's make Champion Hill a difficult place for any team to visit.
Enjoy the game and get behind the boys.
Come on Hamlet.
