REPORT | Cheshunt 1 - 1 Dulwich Hamlet
A late Nyren Clunis strike meant the Hamlet returned from Hertfordshire with a point on Saturday afternoon.
It took just 2 minutes for the Hamlet to show off their attacking strength as Sol Baugh drove down the left hand side and whipped in a cross but it evaded everyone in the area.
As the half progressed Cheshunt had their 1st big chance on goal just before the 30th minute. A header was directed towards goal but Toby Bull managed to acrobatically tip it over the bar.
Minutes later and Danny Mills would have the games biggest chance as he pounced on a misplaced pass and headed through on goal only to fire his shot wide.
That chance seemed to spark a change in the flow of the game with the Mark Dacey's side stepping it up a gear and 3 minutes later Lonit Talla would deliver a dangerous cross only for it to be deflected into the arms of the Cheshunt goalkeeper.
Sol Baugh would have a great chance 5 minutes before the break as he fired towards goal but the shot was blocked before being cleared away.
The 2nd half started with Cheshunt on top and they went close after just 2 minutes after a misplaced pass from Toby Bull but the Hamlet defence stood firm.
Danny Mills would again have the visitors best chance as another misplaced pass fell to Mills and he swivelled to get the shot away but it was eventually blocked and cleared away.
Minutes later and the hosts would take the lead with the Hamlet defence unable to clear their lines, Cheshunt won the ball and put it passed Bull in goal.
10 minutes later and Bull would be called into action again, as Cheshunt broke through on goal only for Bull to deny with his legs.
As we entered the final 25 minutes Baugh went close as he cut in a hit towards goal only for the keeper to parry it clear.
With 20 minutes on the clock and the Hamlet pressure building Cheshunt would have a chance to secure all 3 points. A quick counter attack put them 1 on 1 with Bull but he once again denied them.
With 10 to go Baugh would go close again. This time the ball was played to him by Gaspar Mico but Baugh's low driven shot was blocked on the line!
With minutes of the match left the Hamlet would finally find themselves level as the King of Camberwell got his 1st competitive goal since returning to Champion Hill. Nyren Clunis got the ball in the box, turned and curled a shot into the top corner beautifully.
The Hamlet would return to SE22 with a valuable point keeping them in the play-off spots before facing table toppers Brentwood Town at Champion Hill this Saturday. Tickets for that one are available here.
