REPORT | Potters Bar Town vs Dulwich Hamlet

The Dulwich play-off charge continued with a valuable victory over Potters Bar Town.

The Hamlet headed north on Tuesday night to Potters Bar Town knowing 3 points was all that mattered going into the final 6 games of the season.

It wouldn’t start well for the Hamlet though as the hosts would fire themselves ahead after 17 minutes. The Hamlet failed to get the ball away and it fell to the feat of Cojocarel who smashed it home from the edge of the 18-yard box.

Dulwich would almost reply instantly as a quick break from kick-off. Deacon and Wanadio linked up well on the right hand side and whipped a ball in that eventually fell to Egan, but his shot was blocked.

5 minutes later though and Dulwich would have a leveller. Veteran striker Danny Mills got on the end of an Anthony Jeffrey cross to head home from 6 yards out.

Mills would almost fire Dulwich ahead on the stroke of half time, but his header was blocked but it fell to Wanadio who saw his shot blocked too.

With the rain continuing to fall the pitch would start to resemble a swamp more than a football pitch and at the hour mark Anthony Jeffrey would benefit from this as the ball would hold up in the water allowing him to get a cross in only for it to be cleared away.

Minutes later Mills would have the ball in the back of the net only for it to be ruled out for a foul.

Seconds later though and the football gods would on the side of Dulwich. The free kick from Mills ‘goal’ would fall straight at his feet. He played it into the path of Jeffrey who calmly placed it in the bottom corner firing the Hamlet ahead.

The Hamlet would spend the last 15 minutes mastering the art of game management. A number of intricate passages of play in the Potters Bar half would avoid the hosts having any major chances on goal and the Hamlet would return to South London victorious just two points of the play-offs.
