REPORT | Billericay Town vs Dulwich Hamlet | 18/01/25

The Hamlet headed to Essex for the 1st game of the Bradley Quinton era as we visited title chasers Billericay Town.
The Hamlet boasted a near fully fit squad with the only absentees being Sam German and Louis Ramsay. Jordan Wynter lined up in right back whilst at the other end of the pitch Anthony Jeffrey, Deon Moore and Luke Wanadio formed our front 3.
It would be Deon Moore who would have the first major chance of the game as he latched on to a long ball before his strike was saved by Sam Donkin in the Billericay net.
The Hamlet would have the 1st of 3 major penalty shouts after 20 minutes as Luke Wanadio appeared to be taken down on the edge of the box with the referee giving neither a free kick or a penalty.
Five minutes later and the referees decision making would once again be put into question this time it was Ben Steward who whipped out Hasan Ibrahiym on the halfway line and once again the referee waved the appeals away.
On the 30th minute mark it would be Billericay who would find themselves ahead against the run of play. Decarrey Sherieff bought the ball down superbly before firing his shot into the back of the net.
As the half time whistle approached the Hamlet would once again have appeals for a penalty turned away. Deon Moore got the ball in the box after some skilful play from Wanadio. Moore was quickly surrounded by Billericay players before being forced to the ground. This time the referee did blow up but awarded a free kick to Billericay for an apparent dive.
The final stages of the 1st half saw Ralfi Hand enter the referees book as he received a yellow card for decent after being taken out on the edge of the Billericay box.
Ryley Scott replaced Kresh Krasniqi at half time as the midfielder made his 2nd appearance after a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
Scott would almost fire the Hamlet level as he received the ball on the edge of the box but his shot was fired over the bar.
Minutes later and Billericay would have a 2nd and all but kill the game off. Sheriff once again beating Barnes after a slip from Ross Marshall which put the now league leaders 2 ahead.
Lorenzo would replace Ralfi Hand to try and spark the 2nd half into life and he did just that. Jerome Binnom-Williams laid off the ball to the winger but his long range effort went over the bar.
As we entered the final 10 minutes the Hamlet would have their 3rd and final penalty appeal turned away. Scott played a long ball over to George Porter who looked to be pulled down by Tom Bender but the referee waved the Hamlet appeals away for the 3rd time much to the dismay of the travelling faithful.
With that the game finished and despite a positive performance the Bradley Quinton era began with a defeat in Essex.
