Former National League South promotion winner Alfie Payne is the latest new face to sign for Mark Dacey's new look Hamlet side. 

Payne secured promotion to non leagues top table at the end of the 23/24 season as he won the play-offs with Braintree Town but was unable to experience life at the top due to work commitments. 

Last season he spent time at Clarence Park as St Albans City suffered a shock relegation from the National League South. 

Now Payne is looking for a fresh new challenge south of the river as he links up with his team mates ahead of our match with Basingstoke this weekend. 

On signing Alfie Payne manager Mark Dacey had this to say:" Alfie's range of passing and ability to play forward is something that has really impressed us. He's got a beautiful left foot that if we can utilise will cause teams lots of problems.
