All local news this week...

here we bring you back up to date, with the local press coverage over the last week

On Tuesday, in the midweek edition of the 'South London Press', we claimed the headline in the non league column:

Dulwich progress

A brace from Dean McDonald and a strike from Shawn McCoulsky sent Dulwich Hamlet through to the second qualifying round of the FA Trophy with an easy 3-0 win over Southern League side Chalfont St Peter.
McCoulsky converted Nyren Clunis' right-wing cross in the 23rd minute and Dulwich doubled their lead shortly before half-time when Xavier Vidal's low centre was swept home by McDonald.
McDonald made it three just before the hour, finishing well from another Clunis delivery.

On Thursday the weekly 'Southwark News' also reported on that Trophy match:

McDonald brace ensures Trophy progress

A second half brace of goals from Dean McDonald ensured Hamlet made short work of Southern League Central side Chalfont St Peter on Saturday.
The victory ensured Dulwich progressed to the second qualifying round of the FA Trophy where they will take on fellow Ryman Premier League side Metropolitan Police on Saturday November 15 away at Imber Court.
Before McDoanld got on the scoresheet at the weekend it was teenage striker Shaen McCoulsky who netted first, getting on the end of a Nyren Clunis cross in the 23 minute to give Dulwich a deserved lead.
The second Hamlet goal came four minutes before the break when a Chalfont defender was caught in possession and the ball was played to Xavier Vidal on the right. He delivered a low cross that McDonald swept home without breaking stride.
The game was completely out of reach for the Buckinghamshire side when McDonald scored again just before the hour mark.
Clunis picked out McDonald in the penalty area before the front man brought the ball under control with one touch and swept it home with the second.
Speak after the contest Hamlet manager Gavin Rose said: "The performance was OK. We played against a side who are struggling in their league but that can be difficult and we took out time to get into the game. But once we got to grips with things we played some decent football and it was a good game."
He added that cup progress was not on his radar, but that would come if Dulwich approached games in the correct manner.
Rose added: "We don't look at a cup game any differently to a legaue game, we just go out to win the next game we play. It just been that in the cups this season we have not been at our best and lost on the day."

The 'Southwark News' also feature a very famous footballer, who came to the match, trying to keep a low profile, and just enjoying the football:

Rio checks out Hamlet

Ex-England international Rio Ferdinand took in Dulwich Hamlet's game against Chalfont St Peter on Saturday as he sat out the first of a three match ban he picked up last week.
The QPR defender, who hails from Peckham and is a close friend of Hamlet gaffer Gavin Rose, sat amongst the crowd in East Dulwich after getting an unexpected mid-season break from competitive action.
The ban, given for comments the 35-year-old made on twitter, did mean that he had the spare time to check out the work of his old friend from Southwark who is now in charge of football affairs at Champion Hill.
Rose told the News: "Rio said he enjoyed the atmosphere and the way the team played football. I did not tell the team he was coming along. To me it wasn't a big thing but it might have been to others and we didn't want anything to distract from the important thing of getting a result on Saturday. Also he did not to make a big thing about it and just wanted to come along and watch the game with as little fuss as possible."

The third article in the 'Southwark News' featuring our boys from Champion Hill previewed our friendly with Conference South side Farnborough, tomorrow (Sunday) at one o'clock:

Hamlet look at new players in friendly

Dulwich Hamlet are set to trial new faces in their weekend friendly against Farnborough as Gavin Rose explores various options to bolster his squad.
The fixture calendar, changed to fit in with cup commitments, meant Hamlet had no game this weekend but they have arranged a game this Sunday, kicking off at 1pm, against the Conference South outfit.
Rose told the News that he was keen to have a game for a variety of reasons despite his squad being stretched this season due to a hefty injury list.
He said: "Being a friendly it does give us more flexibility in terms of selection and we will probably look at one or two boys from pro clubs which we normally wouldn't have a chance of doing. But we will be taking the game very serriously, as will the guys from Farnborough, and we will be treating it as a game we want to win."
He added: "We wanted to get a game for the majority in as for the majority of the season we play Saturday to Tuesday and to go from that to a break of ten days or so is too much. It also serves to keep the players in shape and in the conditioning that they are used to by playing regularly. In their current condition playing the game against Farnborough shouldn't be a problem."
The search for new recruits will not start and end on Sunday, and the Hamlet manager stated that they are working hard to pull in new faces.
Rose said: "In the next two to three weeks we will be looking at two to three players. Who comes in depends on the situation of players at other clubs, amongst other things, but that is what we hope to do as we approach whatwe think is a key stage of the season."

And finally, yesterday's weekend copy of the 'South London Press' also featured the Farnborough match:

Dulwich Hamlet play a friendly against Farnborough on Sunday (1pm). Admission has been reduced to £5 adults and £1 concessions. It is free for all season ticket holders.
Gavin Rose's sode had been due to visit Maidstone United in the Ryman League Premier Division tomorrow but the game has been moved to Wednesday due to the Stones' involvement in the FA Cup first round tomorrow.
Keeper Phil Wilson is expected to be back in contention for next week's game-a timely boost with Oshane Brown set to miss the next fortnight with a knee injury.
Rose will field his strongest side for the Farnborough match-with Wilson set to feature.
"If we didn't have this game then it would have been a 10-day break before Maidstone and that's a little too long," said Rose.
Having won their FA Trophy first qualifying round tie 3-0 against Chalfont St Peter last Saturday, Dulwich have been drawn away to fellow Ryman Premier side Metropolitan Police, one of manager Gavin Rose's former clubs.
