Bath City Abandonment
A severe head injury to Bath forward Alex Fletcher ended our game after five minutes
Everyone at Dulwich Hamlet are still extremely shocked and saddened by events in our game at Twerton Park last night.
For those unaware, the game was abandoned after Bath City forward Alex Fletcher collided head first with a concrete wall on the perimeter of the pitch in the fifth minute. The referee rightly took everyone inside for a while, and once realising the severity of the situation, rightly called an end to the game.
Alex was treated for more than an hour on the side of the pitch, with paramedics and a critical care team in attendance, before being taken to a specialist head trauma department in Bristol.
Bath City have released a statement from Alex's parents this morning, which revealed he underwent emergency neurosurgery to stabilise his condition and was then admitted to intensive care, where he remains in a stable but critical condition.
Everyone connected to Dulwich Hamlet Football Club would like to extend our full support, love and best wishes to Alex, his parents and family, his team-mates and everyone at Bath City at this difficult time.
