Be at Goose Green tomorrow!
Dulwich Hamlet Football Club fully support the fans' rally and march tomorrow at half past twelve
Tomorrow, Saturday 17th March at half past twelve, the independent grouping of our supporters are holding a rally under their banner of 'Save Dulwich Hamlet' with a swathe of speakers at Goose Green, which is by the roundabout & opposite our good friends from the 'East Dulwich Tavern.'
Chair of the Dulwich Hamlet Football Committee Liam Hickey will be speaking from the platform, as will lifelong Hamlet fan Mishi Morath.
The Member of Parliament for Dulwich & West Norwood Helen Hayes will be addressing the crowd too, as will Lord Roy Kennedy, a Millwall fan, who is a member of the House of Lords.
Hamlet fan & Southwark Councillor Catherine Rose will also be voicing her backing for our great club, as will Alex Crane, who is the Chairman of the Dulwich Hamlet Supporters' Trust.
And from the oldest football club in the world, Sheffield Football Club, Ian Feeley will be lending his support.
After the short adresses close the crowds will then march from Goose Green to our fenced off home to peacefully protest about the current situation.
Everyone is welcome - whether you're a Dulwich Hamlet fan, a supporter of another club or someone who cares about the local community, because this issue reaches far beyond Dulwich Hamlet Football Club. This is a family-friendly event so feel free to bring the kids.
Wear your colours, bring your balloons, whistles, drums, facepaint, banners...make it as colourful as possible! Please, no pyro though, this is a family-orientated protest.
Football Club Committee Chair Liam Hickey said:
" This will send a really powerful message about how important Dulwich Hamlet is not just to our fans, but to the whole of our local community. The messages of support we have had from not just the world of football, but politcians and celebrities has been amazing. By turning out in numbers tomorrow we will be sending out a message that Dulwich Hamlet cannot and should not be pushed around and messed with. Our home is Champion Hill, and hopefully will be once more for many years to come if Meadow Residential see reason."
He added a cautionary note though:
"While we hope for large numbers backing us tomorrow we also need all of our fans to make the short journey across South London to Tooting & Mitcham United for our home games, starting with this Sunday's match at 3.00pm against Worthing. Now, more than ever, we need our loyal fans to flock through the turnstiles and donate to the "12th Man" buckets and on-line."
Lifelong Hamlet fan Mishi Morath & community lead on the Football Committee praised the responses so far:
"Over the last few years we have reached out to our local community & they have responded through our hugely increased attendances. There is so much backing and goodwill out there for Dulwich Hamlet that I think has shocked our landlords, and we will continue to stand united Club & Community until this battle is won."
