A local musician wants the help of fellow Hamlet fans on the Champion Hill terraces for his World Cup tune on Saturday
Patrick Lyons is recording an alternative anthem ahead of the World Cup Finals in the summer, & hopes that Hamlet fans can help him with a hit!
Some of you may know Patrick, the American from behind the goal, and artistic wise, you name it, he's done it. A lyricist, performance poet, actor & radio broadcaster; he is hoping his tune can unite people through sport. With his song encaspulating the passion of life that is football.
His radio station is the alternative Optical Radio , which is an internet broadcaster. They deal with a lot of local artists south of the river, who they like to highlight and give airtime to.
He said: "The station is all about quality, whether mainstream or alternative. Very much in the same vein of Dulwich Hamlet and their amazing supporters."
So why have backing from the Campion Hill terraces?
"The fans at Dulwich Hamlet reflect all that is good in football, a whole community being brought together through the local team."
When the song is released, as well as Hamlet fans singing, he hopes to have cameo backing from the up and coming pop band Fat White Family.
At the match Patrick and his recording team will be behind the goal, filming 'The Rabble' backing The Hamlet, so feel free to bring as many balloons, flags, scarves and colours as you wish..though as usual, as per Football Association regulations, NO PYROTECHNICS, please!
At half-time Patrick is requesting that Hamlet fans stay, or go, behind the goal at the Car Park End, to join in a mass singing of the catchy chorus of his hopeful summer hit.
"We stand together one an all-England will fight for the magic goal"
So come on, let's help them out, have some fun...and settle our nerves as we all back our boys in the big game against the K's!
