BHF CHOSEN AS SHIELD CHARITY
The British Heart Foundation is set to benefit from this Tuesday’s Ryman Charity Shield at Dulwich Hamlet.
Champion Hill will be playing host to Ryman South Faversham Town in the annual Isthmian League fundraiser for good causes on this coming Tuesday 17th September. Needham Market beat Bury 5-3 on penalties in last November's match.
Earlier this year the BHF successfully teamed up with the Football Association to launch a new £1.2m fund to subsidise the cost of defibrillators at Non-League grounds.
Each season the Ryman League Board donated the proceeds of the fixture to a chosen charity. Last season Needham Market took on East Anglian neighbours Bury Town, the Marketmen eventually triumphing 5-3 in a penalty shootout after the game had finished goalless in normal time.
The proceeds from that night were split between two charities - the Motor Neurone Disease Association, in memory of former Ryman manager Del Deanus who died after a five-year battle with the disease, and Level Playing Field, which campaigns for improved facilities for disabled fans. League Chairman Alan Turvey is one of the charity's trustees.
Kick off at Champion Hill is 7.45 pm.
