Billericay Town 2-1 Dulwich Hamlet

Billericay Town 2-1 Dulwich Hamlet

Dulwich slipped to a second consecutive defeat as they let slip a one goal lead.

A Dulwich side still well below full strength were a little unfortunate to slip to defeat at Billericay Town as a scrappy winner after an error by keeper Inigo Echepare proved costly.

Dulwich were slow to get into the game on a very difficult bumpy surface. Billericay had a shout for a penalty after 5 minutes but the referee was convinced Terrell Forbes had not impeded the home forward.

Dulwich created their first chance in the 9th minute as Xavier Vidal slipped a neat pass inside the full back to New signing Bagasan Graham but he could only find the side netting.

Inigo Echepare then had to be alert as he raced to the edge of his box to just beat the forward to the ball. At the other end Nigel Neita created a couple of openings without troubling the keeper and Marlon Patterson produced a good cross that found nobody in the box.

Jordan Hibbert had a shot that home keeper Billy Lumley managed to turn wide before the game became a midfield stalemate. Just before the break Inigo Echepare was deceived by a long free kick but Terrell Forbes was alert to block near the line.

Half Time 0-0

Billericay had a good chance in the opening minute of the second half but again good defending averted the danger and immediately Dulwich broke out. Marlon Patterson slipped a pass between the centre backs and Bagasan Graham finished with aplomb.

Billericay pressed forwards looking for an equaliser and their direct football put pressure on the Hamlet defence but Terrell Forbes & the imperious Ethan Pinnock held firm.

In fact Graham maybe should have doubled the lead when he headed wide .

Billericay were then thwarted by a brilliant stop from Echepare but from the resulting corner the defence allowed Steve Sheehan to get across the near post and head home the equaliser in the 65th minute.

Billericay's direct approach with their forwards chasing balls into the channels kept The Hamlet on the back foot but they were coping well until the 76th minute when Inigo Echepare was slow to a cross and the ball was scrambled home by Seedy Njie.

Substitute Laurent Hamici had a couple of chances when well placed but was too slow to get his shot away on each occasion as Dulwich pressed forward.

Billericay had to see out the last few minutes as substitute Jeffrey Imudia was dismissed for a second booking received for a very poor challenge on Abdul Mansaray.
