Brentwood Town 1-2 Dulwich Hamlet
Dulwich took the points with goals in the first few minutes of each half and moved back into the Play Off places.
Gavin Rose shuffled the team following Saturday's game at Leiston by giving Kevin James a well earned rest on the bench. He was joined by Jordan Hibbert & Lawrence Yiga from the previous starting line-up.
Rhys Murrell-Williamson was restored to the starting XI along with Damian Scannell, Ashley Carew & Matt Drage, who was returning from suspension.
Dulwich were in front with just over one minute played. Forcing an early corner, Ashley Carew floated the ball in and Brentwood skipper Martyn Stokes headed past his own keeper whilst under pressure from Mitchell Nelson.
Dulwich went looking for a second as Scannell had a good chance and Murrell-Williamson had an overhead kick saved. Clunis fired wide from outside the area before Dulwich missed a gilt edged chance in the 18th minute. Scannell got to the goal line on the right and delivered a low cross that found Murrell-Williamson at the far post. However, he missed his kick with the goal gaping.
The first moment of anxiety for the away side came in the 23rd minute when Edwards came to collect the the ball on the edge of the box but the referee adjudged that Pinnock had deliberately passed the ball back. However, the free kick was struck high and wide.
Dulwich were quickly back in the ascendancy and Nelson headed wide from another Carew corner, whilst Clunis curled an effort just over.
They should have added a second in the 37th minute. Matt Drage played a long diagonal ball that Murrell-Williamson took down with his first touch, stepped inside his marker but then shot weakly straight at Bowles in the home goal from 10 yards.
Half Time 0-1
Dulwich were quickly back on the attack at the start of the second half and doubled the lead in the 48th minute. Jordan Brown was brought down close to the left goal line, Ashley Carew delivered the free kick into the box, Bowles could only push the ball out and Ethan Pinnock volleyed home.
Carew had a long distance effort comfortably held by Bowles before Brentwood pulled a goal back in the 59th minute. An excellent free kick from Sam Cross curled over the wall and left Edwards flat footed.
Brentwood pushed forward looking for an equaliser but couldn't create any efforts that tested Edwards, despite a number of free kicks and long throws being directed into the penalty area.
Dulwich seemed content to hold what they had and ensure that the defence was not exposed to any quick breaks. The only chance of note coming with 5 minutes remaining when substitutes Moss & Yiga combined but the latter's effort was too high.
Despite over 6 minutes of stoppage time Dulwich suffered no alarms and the result looks to have condemned the home side to a place in the bottom four.
