Chalobah and Lovatt Added To Squad
The Hamlet have added two more young players to their squad this week, signing Paul Chalobah and Finlay Lovatt.
Paul appeared in five of our pre-season matches, starting in the game against Bromley and appearing off the bench against Altona '93, Welling United, Tooting & Mitcham United and Welwyn Garden City. He played all of those games as a right wing-back or full-back.
The 23-year-old was on the books at Leatherhead during the second half of last season, and was briefly training with the Hamlet last summer in the 'B' team under Gavin Rose and Junior Kadi. He comes from a footballing family, with older brothers Nathaniel and Trevoh playing for West Bromwich Albion and Chelsea respectively.
Midfielder Finlay appeared in the first seven of our friendlies during the summer, only missing the final two games due to injury. He also scored in our 3-1 victory at Welling United, capitalising on a loose back pass to put us ahead in that game.
He joins us from Bromley, where, although he did not play a league game for the Ravens, he played a crucial role in their run to FA Trophy success in the 2021-22 season, as he scored the only goal of the game away to Dover Athletic in the Third Round.
The 20-year-old has also enjoyed loan spells with Billericay Town, Bognor Regis Town, Merstham, Walton & Hersham and Corinthian-Casuals over the past two seasons. Last season, he would play 19 times for Casuals, scoring three times.
A warm welcome to both!
