Charity begins at home
Please note there will be NO bucket collection on New Years Day for the Dulwich Hamlet 12th Man fund. but for a good reason...
For our big derby game there will be charity collectors from Southwark Council, asking for donations to "The Mayor of Southwark's Common Good Trust".
This is the charity where the Mayor of Southwark raises funds, which they then nominate to causes dear to their heart, to benefit local people from our borough.
A couple of months ago the current incumbent,Councillor Althea Smith, wrote to our Club asking if we would consider supporting her Common Good trust this year.
Rather than just make a small donation from Club coffers we decided to open up our big holiday derby match with Tooting & Mitcham United to her collectors.
So please put a few spare coins into the collecting tins when you are approached, for this very good local cause.
Unfortunately our Mayor cannot be at the game personally, as she will be representing Southwark at the annual New Years Day Parade in central London.
So as not to cause confusion the 'Dulwich Hamlet 12th Man' group has made the generous offer of not shaking their own collection bucket at the same time. They will still be visitble, with bank forms, so you can sign up to pay by direct debit each month, or to take your donations, if you stil lwish to give them, discreetly, so as to not affect the charity collection.
Alternatively, the open 'Dulwich Hamlet 12th Man' matchday collections will resume next Saturday, against Corinthian-Casuals.
