Christian Smith scored for the third consecutive game as The Hamlet came from behind to secure a hard earned point.
This was a game of two halves as both sides struggled to cope when playing with the advantage of the wind on a pitch made slick by the incessant rain.
It was the home side who will feel they should have had more than their one goal to show for their first half dominance, in which The Hamlet failed to mount a serious attack on goal. It wasn't long before Chelmsford had their first sight of goal, with Whelpdale firing wide in the 3rd minute, as did Cotter few minutes later.
The next dangerous attack saw them take the lead as Shaw made space to cross and the ball was flicked to Sam Higgins at the far post, who scored his obligatory goal against The Hamlet with a simple header.
Connor Hunte looked the player most likely to make things happen for Dulwich and he set up Aaron Barnes whose 19th minute effort was blocked.
Chelmsford maintained their dominance and Higgins was foiled by a fine save from Charlie Grainger as he dived full length to hold Higgins effort on the turn, whilst Knott shot too high when he should have hit the target three minutes later.
Dulwich were barely seen as an attacking force but in the 39th minute Ade Yusuff sent Danny Mills through on goal, despite being clattered late by Winfield, but he was crowded out without getting a shot awsay.
Cotter shot too high and a combination of Quade Taylor and Charlie Grainger kept out a Winfield effort as Dulwich went to the break just one goal behind.
Half Time 1-0
The Hamlet emerged for the second half in much more positive fashion and it took them only 4 minutes to level the scores. A corner resulted in a scramble in the penalty area and both Smith and Quade Taylor were denied before Christian Smith forced the ball over the line. There was a delay whilst the referee consulted his assistant but the goal stood.
It was now Dulwich who were dominant, but they were unable to create any clear chances until the 70th minute when Pentney produced a fine save from a Hunte volley after good play by Dominic Vose and Jack Connors.
Christian Smith should have given Dulwich the lead two minutes later but headed wide at the far post However, the changes from the bench perked up the home side and Jeffers fired too high when well placed to meet a cross from Spillane.
Dominic Vose went close for The Hamlet as a clearance from Charlie Grainger launced a Dulwich attack and Aaron Barnes should have given Dulwich the lead in the 78th minute. He exchanged passes to be set clear but his attempt to curl the ball home was hopelessly high and wide.
Danny Mills saw a header easily saved by Pentney, whilst for Chelmsford, Whelpdale shot too high and Jeffers poked an effort wide. Isaac saw a low shot well saved by Grainger, who was by now carrying an injury that hindered his kicking. The Hamlet stopper then foiled Whelpdale with a good save and the same player shot too high as both sides had to settle for a point.
