Commercial chat

Those of you you regularly buy a programme will know there is a regular 'Commercial Column' in it

Penned by Committee member Mishi Morath, it was recently brought to his attention that lots of fans don't see it, as they either don't buy a programme every week or if at all, so miss out on the information in it.

He said: "To be honest it was a complete oversight not to think of spreading the word, so to speak, on here too. Especially as all of the posts on here are re-published by the fans who look after the independent Twitter & Facebook pages." He went on: "I shall make sure the four colums we have already included in our previous home programmes go on the Club website retropsectively. And I shall also make sure all future columns are seen on the internet just after each home match, in future."

So without further ado, here are the first two columns of the season.

Saturday 10th August v. Lowestoft Town

It seems like yesterday that we earned a point in our last home match against Burgess Hill Town, to clinch promotion back to the Premier Division, & here we are!

This afternoon we welcome everyone from Lowestoft Town, taking off my 'committee hat' for a moment, and putting my 'supporters titfer' back on, I hope they have a really good day, apart from the three points, naturally. A couple of seasons ago we went up there for a League Cup tie, and can honestly say they were one of the friendliest & most welcoming clubs I've ever visited with The Hamlet, hopefully our guests will have this reciprocated at Champion Hill.

Although we have no Match Sponsor for the match this afternoon, the match ball is covered by one of our loyal fans under his Twitter tag of "@uncomplex", along with the gaming website "www.indieroyale.com ". We thank him for his continued support. Details of match & matchball packages are elsewhere in this programme, please get in touch if you would like to support the Club in this extra way.

We were pleased to have a Match Sponsor last Tuesday, for our well attended big pre-season match with Crystal Palace. This was in the name of one of, if not the youngest, Hamlet fan, Otto Von Whittington, born on the 8th of June, so this is his first season supporting us! The match ball was sponsored by 'Ultimatelad', in conjunction with the match sponsorship, so a real 'double' effort, so we say a belated thank you to all concerned. In fact the whole of their party seemed to enjoy their evening, and we received this nice message from them: "Thanks for a great time. You guys did a great jobe there. You made us feel so welcome. We have all agreed that we definately want to do that again! It was brilliant!"

Moving on, we are also running our 'bit of fun' "Ten Tunes 4 a Tenner" deal, whereby you choose ten tracks to be played over our tannoy before the match and at half time, simply making a ten pounds donation for the privilege. We will trace your selections & download them, so we do all the work, you just send us your list! Today we are grateful to Dulwich Hamlet fan Robert Molloy-Vaughan for his offerings this afternoon.

It's been extremely busy on the commercial front, with an exciting new partnership commencing, as we link up with Winkworths, the estate agents based in Dulwich, as our main shirt sponsors on our home & away Ryman League shirts. You will already notice their boards on display both outside & in the stadium.

There are also a number of new pitch perimeter sponsors, and we welcome on board, literally. As well as Winkworths we are pleased to link up with a variety of local companies, to add to the hoardings from last season.

We welcome Bespoke Windows, based in Lordship Lane; Flock & Herd, the butchers from Belenden Road; Supreme Engraving & Awards; ABAL Environmental, pest controllers; as well as the Dulwich Hamlet Supporters Trust, which was part of their sponsorship package of the alternative light blue kit, first worn last season. We are pleased that Andy the Honor Oak Handyman has taken out a board, not only that but Andy has helped to erect the new ones around the ground! Cheers for your help.

As part of the deal struck with Supreme Engraving & Awards, they are kindly supplying a trophy for the Dulwich Hamlet man of the match, which YOU the supporters will be able to vote for at every home game. Listen out for the number to text your nomination to, during the latter part of the second half, the number to text, at the cost price of a text NOT a fancy premium rate like many professional clubs, will be announced over the tannoy, and via posters dotted around the ground. Votes will also be collated for a monthly award too.

Those of you who stand on the far side of the ground, opposite the Tommy Jover Stand, will notice that the area has been cleaned up, and netting put under the roof, which will hopefully ensure that there will be no more pidgeon mess underneath. This is thanks to our new partners ABAL ENVIRONMENTAL, who are a pest control business.

If your company, or yourrself as an individual, would like to enquire about helping the Club by having a board around the pitch, or an advertisment in the programme, then simply drop an email to Liam Hickey at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. & he will get back to you.

Finally, a word on the individual shirt sponsorship scheme. This ran well last season, and was well supported...but went a bit 'pear shaped' at the end of the Championship campaign. Unfortunately I failed to factor in the crazy day when we won the title, and the players themselves bagged many of the shirts a their own souvenirs, and who could begrudge them that? As a consequence though, we had to hold onto the rest of the kit for our pre-season matches, while replacements were ordered. We shall be, finally, distributing the shirts over the next week or two. But as a consequence we have not yet pushed the scheme for the new campaign, as we don't think it 'morally right' to appeal for more money, when you haven't had your 'goodies' from last year!

Thank you all for your understanding, enjoy the game, see you all at the next home match on Tuesday 20th August, when we welcome Cray Wanderers.

Tuesday 20th August v. Cray Wanderers

Good evening,

Thank you all for coming along to Champion Hill, for the first of two consecutive home matches. Even though non league football is relatively cheap compared to professional football, it still does not come cheap when it comes to attending games, once all your costs are added up. Travel, admission, the programme, half time burger & tea, post-match pint, and so on.

As a Football Club we are aware of this, which is why, although we increased the cost of season tickets toward the end of last season for the current campaign, we offered you an incentive with the 'early bird' offer, as well as what we feel are extremely attractive concession deals. Of course, we do not increase prices lightly, but as costs rise year on year, it is inevitable that the cost will go up, if we are to hold our own in the Premier Division. It appears that many of you understood, as we have ben rewarded with season ticket sales that have reached the hundred and fifty mark in sales, the highest since the mid nineties! So a big thank you to everyone who has purchased one, it is much appreciated by everyone at the Club.

There are, of course, other ways you can help too. Ways that you, as a supporter can help, even if you don't run a successful business, and can't afford something like an advertisment in the programme, or a pitch perimeter board. There are other ways a fan can help, to suit even the smallest pocket.

The cheapest & most fun is probably the 'Ten Tunes for a Tenner' scheme, which is where you choose ten songs which are played over the tannoy, both before kick off and at half time. You simply wrack your brains, finalise your selection, then email us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. with the game you want them played at, along with your pledge of a tenner.

If you have thirty pounds to spare you can sponsor a match ball. For this not only do you get your name in every home programme throughout the season, you get a bigger namecheck in the matchday programme, as well as namechecks over the tannoy. Not just all this, but you can watch the game from the directors box along with a guest, included in the package!

An if you want to bring along more guests, either frineds, fellow fans or business partners, for all of the above, and more, you can sponsor the match itself for only £99! Your boardroom hospitality package is for no less than four guests, and if you want more, we can chat about that, if you wish. Your party will also present the fans choice for the Supreme Engraving & Awards Player of the Match award, as voted for by the fans on 0793 957 3024, in the Clubhouse after the final whistle.

For either of these packages just drop an email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. & we will get back to you.

Thank you to all who participated in our first Man of the Match phone vote, when Phil Wilson won the accolade against Lowestoft Town. Again we would like to stress that Dulwich Hamlet Football Club make no money from this phone vote. We are NOT a premium line like rip off 'Pop Idol' or 'Big Brother'! It is an ordinary mobile phone line, where the only expense is your usual providers cost of sending a text. So all you have to do is text your choice of players number, any time after the second half starts, with voting closing a quarter of an hour after the final whistle. usy text 'MOM' and the shirt number of the Dulwich Hamlet player you have selected, eg 'MOM10'. It really is a simple as that, so please feel free to take part, and spread the word.

Please note though, that only one vote per mobile is accepted, and any votes with 'number withheld' will not be accepted.

Thank you again for your support tonight, we look forward to seeing you all again on Saturday, when our visitors are Carshalton Athletic.
