Community Notes v Billericay Town

Community Notes v Billericay Town

For those who don't see the club programme, here's what our Community Team have been up to.

Hello and welcome to Champion Hill!

I’m going to start to today by sharing an extract of a message I received from a fan after our last home game:

“I've been to many clubs over the years to watch games, however The Hamlet has to be the friendliest football club I have been to. All the staff, stewards, supporters and players were so friendly and welcoming. And what a buzz there is around the ground! The atmosphere was great - a wonderful family orientated club with such a diverse cross section of the local community coming along to watch the game, it's what football should be all about and you guys have got it spot on!”

It was such a pleasure to open up an email and read the complementary words from a fan after his first visit to Champion Hill. It really shows what a fantastic part of the community our club is and what we are doing is something we should be proud of.

Moving to today, we’re delighted to have Alfie Zellinger and his friends walking out with the teams. He is an avid fan of The Hamlet and attends Lyndhurst Primary School. Alfie recently celebrated his 9th Birthday and he really looking forward to being alongside his favourite player, Preston Edwards. Welcome to Alfie and we hope you and your family enjoy the game!

We also have guests from The Charter School in East Dulwich. Pupils, families and staff are attending as part of our free tickets for schools scheme. In addition, their girls’ football team have had great season and are here to celebrate their achievements this year. I would like to offer our greetings to our school guests and I hope they have great day at Champion Hill.

Last week, we held a charity fundraising quiz night in the DHFC Bar. The night raised over £500 for Redthread, our official charity partner. Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to a great night. Alongside the money raised at the Redthread match a few weeks back and the proceeds from the shirt auction, we will be able to present Redthread with a sizeable donation at the end of the season. Thank you to everyone for their generosity.

As the end of the season approaches, we’ve only got a couple of home games left. Please keep an eye on the community twitter handle (@DHFC_Community) and the club website for community events and initiatives at these games.

I hope you enjoy the match!

Best wishes,

Rob Hyneman
