Director's Notes | Dulwich vs Kingstonian
Mark Scoltock's director's notes.
We return to league action at Champion Hill today after three weeks on the road and we welcome players, officials, and supporters of Kingstonian to East Dulwich this afternoon.
Whilst the start to our league campaign has not been what we all wanted, our 1-0 win at Cheshunt in the last round of the FA Trophy will see us host Lewes, in the next round, on Saturday 28 October.
We are always seeking to improve communications between club and supporters’ and this week we announced a series of upcoming fan forums, the first of which will take place on Wednesday 6 December, main club bar, from 7.30pm.
Whilst this first forum is several weeks away, we have taken on board the feedback that to short notice had been given for previous forums and so by announcing this season’s forums now, those wishing to attend, have the time to schedule their diaries accordingly. However, supporters are always reminded that our door is always open for anyone who wishes to speak to us outside of these more formal settings.
Alongside the club officials, there will also be representation from the coaching staff of both our men’s and women’s team. Logistically, with both squads training on different nights of the week, it is difficult to get everyone together on the same evening during the season and we would like to thank both management teams for making themselves available for the upcoming forum.
Black History Month (BHM) is celebrated nationally each October and throughout this programme we will be discussing both male and female black footballers and coaches who have made their mark through-out the history of football.
You may have noticed that today we have two front covers for today’s programme, each celebrating current black Dulwich Hamlet players Danny Mills and Rhea Gall.
Danny Mills was introduced into the club’s permanent BHM photo exhibition in 2021, whilst he is currently a member of our men’s squad Danny also works at the football club as our Equability, Diversity, and Inclusion officer.
Theme of this year’s BHM is ‘saluting our sisters’ and later in the programme, Danny talks about those black females who have had significant achievements in football.
Continuing with this theme, this year’s inductee is Rhea Gall. Rhea is a current member of our women’s 1st team and a feature on her inclusion into the Dulwich Hamlet exhibition can be found in the matchday programme on page 28.
Enjoy the game!
