Don't believe all you read...

A leaflet was distributed outside the ground on Saturday by the Liberal Democrat candidate in the forthcoming South Camberwell ward by-election

The leaflet opened by the candidate stating that "Like many supporters of Dulwich Hamlet FC, Ben is concerned about plans to build on its pitch and move it to a smaller alternative nearby."

In fact Dulwich Hamlet Football Club believe that nothing could be much further from the truth. We Dulwich Hamlet Football Committee believe that the vast majority of our fans who care for the future of our club will support the development.

The new stadium will actually see an increased capacity & will be a development that will result in a much larger community use all round the clock for our area, not just for Dulwich Hamlet.

The flyer also expresses concerns about the loss of green space, but the new stadium will be built around the current footprint of the ageing all-weather floodlit surface currently behind our home, which was the site of a previous stadium of ours from 1912 until 1931.

Dulwich Hamlet Football Club are disappointed about the scaremongering & inaccuracy by the Liberal Democrat candidate included in the leaflet.

We believe, as a Football Club, that the building of a new, manageable & fully sustainable ground next to our current one will not only ensure that our Football Club will be able to continue for many years to come, but will also be able to take us onwards & upwards to National League status.

And we also strongly believe that the re-location of our ground next door will greatly enhance & improve the area in and around Greendale.

Hadley Property Group has worked with interested parties within the club on the design of any new facility. Without their acquisition of the site, it is most likely that the club would have not been able to move forward in the positive manner that it has over the last few seasons and engage with the local community in such a positive manner.
