Dulwich Hamlet 0-1 Beckenham Town

Dulwich Hamlet 0-1 Beckenham Town

Dulwich crashed out of the London Senior Cup in a game where they never established any fluency and failed to create many clear chances

The game started brightly enough as the Beckenham keeper was forced to make a sprawling save in the first minute as Jack Dixon let fly from 25 yards.

Dulwich were certainly on top in the early stages and Rammel Lake had an 11th minute effort pushed over the top after he made space in the box. Omar Koroma was then thwarted by Anibaba in the visitors goal as he raced from his line to hack clear.

So it was much against the run of play when Beckenham scored in the 19th minute. Good interplay on the edge of the box saw Danny Lawson find space and plant his shot low across Oshane Brown and into the bottom left corner of his goal.

Dulwich continued to press forward and a rare flowing move involving Michael Kamara, Xavier Vidal, Jack Dixon and Albert Jarrett saw the latter's cross fail to find a forward own the end of it.

In the 32nd minute a cross from Jamie Mascoll was flicked on by Omar Koroma to Xavier Vidal but his effort was saved. Albert Jarrett was at this stage being afforded the freedom of the left hand side and a minute later he got clear but was unable to find Omar Koroma; the ball being cleared for a corner. From the resulting corner Jack Dixon headed tamely wide when well placed.

The next chance came from a free kick given for the keeper ha sling a back pass but Omar Koroma's shot was into the side netting.

Half Time 0-1

The second half failed to come to life early on as Dulwich passes sent astray whilst Beckenham were content to use the wind in their favour to clear long from the back.

On 65 minutes, Lawson almost scored a second goal as his shot was fumbled by Oshane Brown but Terrell Forbes scrambled the loose ball clear.

Dulwich were now struggling to create chances although Rammel Lake was denied by a combination of defender and keeper as he tried to latch on to a pass through the middle.

Beckenham thought they had made the tie safe with 6 minutes left as a through ball saw the assistant raise his flag for offside. However, Oshane Brown got to the ball with no threat around home before bizarrely managing to find the back of his own net whilst trying to pass the ball out. After a discussion between the officials his blushes were spared as the referee went back and awarded Dulwich a free kick for the original offside, although this seemed a very generous decision.

Dulwich pushed for an equaliser and in stoppage time Ashley Carew got free to the left of goal but his deflected shot crashed out off the bar and was scrambled clear.
