Dulwich Hamlet 0-1 Concord Rangers

Dulwich Hamlet 0-1 Concord Rangers

One slip was enough to cost Dulwich the points in a game where they dominated after the break but failed to score.

Dulwich were without Nathan Green from Wednesday's victory, and with Michael Chambers & Tanasheh Abrahams still injured , The Hamlet were slow starters and Alex Wall was allowed space to shoot too high in the third minute.

A free kick from Danny Green was flicked just wide of goal and a second one was fired too high as Dulwich looked sloppy in defence.

However, from the first threatening attack by The Hamlet they were denied what appeared a certain penalty as Walter Figueira burst into the box and was sent tumbling by a defender stepping across his path. To everybody's surprise both the referee, and the Assistant with a good view, were unmoved.

Anthony Cook was halted by a foul just outside the box but he fired the ball too high and Magnus Okuonghae headed a Dominic Vose corner too high.

For The Beachboys, Green shot over the top after a mistake by Quade Taylor and Wall had an effort easily saved by Edwards before they took the lead in the 35th minute. After sloppy play lead to a free kick on the Dulwich left, Green floated it in, Okuonghae slipped as he went towards it and Midson was left with a simple header.

Dulwich mouted a series of attacks seekinga quick equaliser but they could only force one save from Beasant before half time, a shot from Figueira being easily held.

Half Time 0-1

The start of the half saw Concord look to extend their lerad but Okuonghae blocked well on two occasions, but once The Hamlet had made a double change in the 55th minute, the visitors dropped deep to protect what they had.

A great pass from Dominic Vose opened up the defence but Gavin Tomlin failed to control and the same player fluffed an effort at the near post after great wing play from Nyren Clunis.

Dipo Akinyemi should have levelled in the 71st minute as great play on the right saw him presented witha chance at the far post, but with the goal at his mercy e only managed to hit the post.

Dulwich continued to dominate but were trying to be far too intricate to open up a packed defence. Although Beasant made one flying save, he was well protected as The Hamlet tried to thread passes in behind the defence rather than shoot from distance and see what might result.

Sanchez Ming and Nyren Clunis both enjoyed plenty of possession and delivered good crosses into the box but the forwards were well marshalled by a massed defence that dropped deep to ensure they held on to what they had.
