Dulwich Hamlet 1-0 London Bari

Dulwich Hamlet 1-0 London Bari

A spectacular half volley from Jack Dixon allowed The Hamlet to progress to the Semi Finals of the London Senior Cup.

An unconvincing display from Dulwich saw them do just enough against their lower league opponents.

Despite being in the ascendancy for the vast majority of the game, Dulwich failed to create many clear chances against a London Bari side that harried their higher league opponents well.

In truth, debutant goalkeeper Preston Edwards was never unduly troubled but his opposite number was also untroubled in a poor game.

Dulwich came close to taking the lead in the 6th minute as Kevin James struck the post from a free kick 25 yards out and to the left of goal.

Rhys Murrell-Williamson had a half chance from a Jordan Hibbert cross but failed to connect. He then saw a cross almost turned into his own net.

In a rare Bari attack, it took a fine challenge from Albert Jarrett, playing in an unfamiliar left back position, to prevent a clear chance for the visitors.

Jordan Clarke looked the most likely source of a goal but, having cut out a forward pass out of the Bari defence, he advanced towards goal but could not hit the target.

Rhys Murrell-Williamson should have given Dulwich a 29th minute lead but his weak far post header from a Jarrett cross was easily held by the keeper.

Dulwich finally made the breakthrough in the 36th minute, when Murrell-Williamson pulled the ball back from the right and Jack Dixon met it with a half volley on the run that crashed in off the underside of the crossbar.

Jordan Clarke almost added a second in stoppage time at the end of the half but, after a surging run from his own half, his effort was well saved at the near post.

Half Time 1-0

The second half was even less of a spectacle for the crowd of 223 than the first had been. London Bari did commit to attack more as Dulwich lacked any rhythm in their play.

In the 63rd minute Jordan Clarke picked up the ball in the centre circle and ran at the retreating defence, but shot just wide from just outside the penalty area.

London Bari did cause a couple of anxious moments but Sankofa & Drage dealt effectively with any threats as the game petered out as a spectacle with neither keeper seriously tested.

Final Score 1-0
