Dulwich Hamlet 1-0 Tooting & Mitcham Utd
A solitary goal from Marcel Henry-Francis was enough to secure a much changed Dulwich side a win against their old rivals.
The Hamlet started with 9 changes from the starting side against Billericay Town with only Kershaney Samuels of the outfield players retained.
The match never really sparked into life early on and it was 11 minutes before either team threatened. Then Ethan Pinnock intercepted the ball in midfield and set off on a run before laying the ball off to Marcel Henry-Francis whose shot just cleared the bar.
Tooting's first chance arrived in the 17th as a Sol Pinnock shot took a deflection and produced a fine save from Phil Wilson to his right to keep it out. It was Francis Quarm who was the next to be denied by Wilson at the expense of a corner from which Tooting could have taken the lead but the volley was too high.
The rest of the half saw little goalmouth action but just as the game was drifting towards the interval The Hamlet produced what was to be the winning goal. Collecting the ball some 25 yards out Marcel Henry-Francis moved forward and unleashed a terrific left foot strike that comprehensively beat Williams in the visitors goal to his right hand side - view the goal in the videos section of the website.
The second half saw Tooting push forward with renewed vigour with Dulwich becoming more disjointed in their play as the half wore on. Marcel Henry-Francis brought a fine diving stop out of Williams but it was the visitors who came closest as Cecil Jee was left unattended at a corner but his header clipped the outside of the post.
Dean Lodge, who came on as a late substitute, did have the ball in the Tooting net from a sublime through ball from his fellow substitute,Ian Daly, but the Assistant flagged for what appeared to be a marginal offside.
Despite conceding possession at regular intervals in midfield the Dulwich goal was not seriously threatened again as they held out to claim a place in the 3rd Round.
