DULWICH HAMLET 1-0 WEALDSTONE
A solitary 49th minute strike from Ryan James was enough to see Dulwich progress to the next round.
Dulwich enjoyed overwhelming possession in the first half but poor finishing, stout defending from Wealdstone and the woodwork kept the scores level at the break. Nyren Clunis and Ellis Green tormented the Wealdstone full backs throughout the first half and it was Ellis who came closest to breaking the deadlock with a shot that beat keeper Kingsley Banks but came back off the post. Prior to that Erhun Oztumer had left the keeper flat-footed with a free kick that was narrowly wide and Nyren Clunis had twice wasted good chances by firstly firing straight at the keeper and then trying to pass to Daniel Carr with only the keeper to beat.
However four minutes after the restart The Hamlet grabbed the lead as a corner was headed goalwards by Josh Turner and kept out by a combination of keeper and defender only for the ball to fall to Ryan James to thump home.
This was the cue for the visitors to come into the game and they mounted a number of attacks on the Dulwich goal but were thwarted by fine goalkeeping from Phil Wilson and a back four superbly led by man of the match Lewis Gonsalves.
Dulwich now progress to the next round and a home game with Kingstonian that is likely to take place next Tuesday but watch the website for more details.
