DULWICH HAMLET 1-1 CONCORD RANGERS

DULWICH HAMLET 1-1 CONCORD RANGERS

A second half penalty secured The Hamlet a replay on Tuesday in a game that they dominated for long periods with their slick passing football.

Dulwich opened the game well and quickly established their style on their higher ranked opponents without creating any clear chances. It was 17 minutes before the visitors posed a threat when Sam Collins brought a fine fingertip save from Phil Wilson.

Within a minute the Dulwich back four were guilty of over-playing near their own goal and Wilson was called on to make another save from Sam Higgins.

It was Dulwich who then opened up their visitors with a fine move down the left but Nyren Clunis could not keep his header down.

On 23 minutes Concord forced a free kick just to the right of goal and some 25 yards out that Sam Higgins struck through the wall and beyond Wilson.

Within a minute a fine ball through from Ian Daly set Dean Lodge clear but he tried to find Erhun Oztumer rather than shoot and his pass was easily cut out. Nyren Clunis then left his marker floundering but Dean Lodge couldn't get enough purchase on his header.

Peter Adeniyi then stepped out from the back and the ball was quickly transferred through Erhun Oztumer and Ian Daly to Dean Lodge but his shot was blocked. From the next attack Ian Daly and Erhun Oztumer combined again to set Nyren Clunis on goal and his shot forced a fine save from Jamie Butler in The Beachboys goal and Dean Lodge rushed his follow-up shot wide.

However, right on half-time Sam Collins had a chance to double the visitors lead but Wilson easily thwarted his weak finish whilst at the other end a Peter Adeniyi through ball sent Lodge clear again but his shot was deflected wide.

The second half started with Dulwich resuming the ascendancy and Mathieu Boyer blasted a shot just over. Kevin James then found Erhun Oztumer wide on the left and his cross just evaded the onrushing James.

The next chance was to lead to The Hamlet's equaliser as Dean Lodge was set free and as he tried to round the keeper he was upended by him and the referee had no hesitation in pointing to the spot. Erhun Oztumer stepped up and duly converted the spot kick.

The game flowed from end to end with The Hamlet having the bulk of possession but Concord bringing a couple of fine stops from Phil Wilson, the pick of which was a point blank stop after a cross arrived at the forward's feet some 6 yards out.

Mathieu Boyer forced a fine tip over from Butler just as his header looked like it might drop in. Both sides continued to seek a winner and The Hamlet came closest with the very last kick of the match as Oztumer let fly from distance with a shot that beat Butler all ends up but finished a whisker wide of the post.
