Dulwich Hamlet 1-2 Farnborough

Dulwich Hamlet 1-2 Farnborough

Dulwich were defeated by their higher league opponents in a useful run out for the team.

The Hamlet were generally on top in a first half where both teams had their strongest line ups on show.

The only unfamiliar name on show to Hamlet followers in the starting line up was Albert Jarrett, a graduate of the Aspire Academy who has seen service with a number of higher level clubs, on the left wing.

Farnborough threatened first when Phil Wilson, returning from injury, had to be alert after a mistake from the usually reliable Ethan Pinnock. However, Dulwich could , and probably should, have scored twice in the opening 10 minutes.

First, Ashley Carew beat the rather crude Farnborough offside trap, and will be disappointed that his effort crashed against the bar. Then, after good work from Nick Kalakoutis & Xavier Vidal, Nyren Clunis got in behind but saw his shot saved.

A great cross from Jarrett begged for somebody to attack it before, in the 32nd minute Dulwich took the lead.

It seemed only a matter of time before the high line that the visitors were employing would lead to anothef clean break. This time it was a ball over the top from Ashley Carew that found Xavier Vidal beating the offside trap and, whilst his first effort hit the post, he was able to follow up and fire home.

It was much against the run of play when Farnborough equalised. A cross from the Dulwich left was misjudged by Wilson and Fejiri Okenabirhie was left with a simple header.

Half Time 1-1

The second half was a much more disjointed affair, as is often the case in friendlies, as mass substitutions by Dulwich led to a virtually new team by the hour mark.

The Hamlet took the opportunity to take a look at Omar Koroma, a striker formerly with Portsmouth and, more recently, Forest Green Rovers. Gavin Rose was also able to give valuable experience youth graduates Sean Mason, Jamie Mascoll & Ramell Lake.

Farnborough did manage a winner as Okenabirhie converted a penalty although Phil Wilson got a firm hand to it.

Final Score 1-2
