Dulwich Hamlet 1-2 Metropolitan Police
Dulwich failed to take the chance to go to the top of the table as they were beaten by a goal 5 minutes from time.
This was a game where Dulwich did most of the attacking whilst the visitors looked dangerous on the break. In terms of the line up then Matt Drage was restored to the starting line up with Mitchell Nelson dropping to the bench.
Neither team threatened early on although two crosses from the left by Jordan Brown & Rhys Murrell-Williamson were just too high for Jacob Erskine. However, Dulwich were indebted to Ethan Pinnock for a timely interception to thwart a Met attack.
Rhys Murrell-Williamson had a 23rd minute effort well saved whilst Matt Drage headed too high from the resultant corner. Joe Turner had a clear chance for the visitors but scuffed his shot when trying to shoot across Phil Wilson.
Dulwich went close in the 31st minute as Jordan Brown got to the line and pulled the ball back for Jacob Erskine but his shot was blocked.
Four minutes later Dulwich took the lead with a Goal of the Season contender. Dan Sweeney let fly from fully 30 yards and the ball crashed in off the crossbar.
Sweeney tried an even more audacious effort that flew just wide before the Met levelled on the stroke of half time. Osei Sankofa & Matt Drage were easily beaten by Turner who squared the ball to Billy Crook. He struck a rising drive that arrowed past Phil Wilson into his top left corner.
Half Time 1-1
The second half followed a similar pattern to the first although Roberts wasted two good chances for the visitors. Just past the hour mark Murrell-Williamson went on a slaloming run through the Met defence but Williams got down low to his left to push the shot out.
Murrell-Williamson had a shot blocked and Scannell an effort tipped over before a moment of controversy in the 73rd minute. The ball was played in to substitute Calum Willock who turned and was sent crashing by a crude lunge. Everybody waited for the inevitable whistle from the referee. However, to the shock of nearly everybody in the ground he just ignored the incident and allowed play to continue.
Willock had an effort deflected over before Dulwich were caught on the break for the Met's 85th minure winner. Ethan Pinnock looked to have averted the danger with a well timed tackle but the ball broke to Joe Turner wide on the left and he easily beat Jordan Hibbert before firing across Wilson and into the far corner.
Dulwich pushed forward and in stoppage time Waldren had a header just wide from a Jordan Hibbert cross. Even then Dulwich still would have grabbed a point but for a remarkable save from Williams deep into stoppage time.
Ethan Pinnock ran at the defence before firing a shot that struck the far post and broke to Danny Waldren but somehow Williams turned his effort over the bar.
