Dulwich Hamlet 1-2 Millwall XI
Dulwich had another good workout against a Millwall XI on a hot afternoon at Champion Hill.
Dulwich opened brightly and Daniel Carr was close to getting on the end of a great cross from Nyren Clunis. Carr then shot narrowly wide after a great run down the left by Roman Michael-Percil and Nathan Green's driven cross almost caught out keeper Tom King at his near post.
Therefore it was no real surprise when Dulwich took the lead in the 15th minute. Daniel Carr had his shot blocked by a raised hand and stepped forward to confidently convert the spot kick.
Millwall came into the game as they looked to level matters and, from a corner, James Brown headed just wide at the far post.
However, it took a fantastic save from Tom King in the Millwall goal to stop Nyren Clunis doubling the lead with a 27th minute effort from some 30 yards; King tipping it wide as he leaped high to his left.
Dulwich thought they had scored in the 35th minute but the effort was disallowed for dangerous play from Matt Drage.
With half time approaching Millwall's Mekhi McLeod flicked an effort just over & Kyron Farnell of fired over when well placed. An effort from Brown was deflected wide and, from the resulting corner, Alfie Pavey headed the visitors level.
Half Time 1-1
Dulwich started the second half on the front foot and Sandy Cunningham had an effort deflected just over and Marc Weatherstone headed too high when left unattended from a corner.
However, as the heat and the various substitutions increased so the game design lined in quality.and it was Millwall who grabbed what turned out to be the winner with 17 minutes remaining. Mekhi McLeod picked up the ball outside the penalty area and weaved his way past some half hearted defending to roll the ball home.
Dulwich came close to an equaliser in the final minute as Ashley Carew created space on the edge of the penalty area. His shot seemed to be heading into the bottom left corner of King's goal but the keeper got down well to push it away.
