Dulwich Hamlet 1-2 Wingate & Finchley

Dulwich Hamlet 1-2 Wingate & Finchley

A last minute own goal consigned Dulwich to a third consecutive defeat in a game they should have won even with 10 men for 50 minutes.

This game was slow to get going with both sides cancelling each other out, with the visitors pushing up to prevent Dulwich playing out from the back. The first time Dulwich managed to thread the ball through to Reise Allassani he was just unable to find Nyren Clunis breaking through the middle.

It was Reise Allassani who consistently looked the most likely to provide the breakthrough as he had a 14th minute effort blocked and then fired inches wide after a Preston Edwards clearance had found him.

Allassani should have given Dulwich the lead in the 24th minute when Nathan Ferguson got a great low cross in from the right, but the normally lethal marksman missed his cross with the goal gaping.

Wingate & Finchley then had their first real sight of goal when Preston Edwards just managed to punch clear a cross from Mavila. Monville then missed his kick completely when a poor clearance reached him at the far post and Beckles-Richards poked just wide from 12 yards.

With five minutes to half time, Dulwich were reduced to ten men when Ibrahim Kargbo was sent off for what appeared to be an over the ball challenge. However, right on half time they took the lead as a ball over the top found Nyren Clunis who scored with a fine left footed effort.

Half Time 1-0

Despite their numerical advantage, the visitors were unable to exert any pressure on the Dulwich goal and it appeared most likely they would add to their lead. Reise Allassani curled an effort just too high and Nathan Green blasted over when well placed before a game changing moment in the 71st minute.

Ashley Carew released Reise Allassani on the left and he squared the ball to Nyren Clunis inside the area. As he let the ball run across his body, he was clearly brought down from behind, yet the referee deemed no offence had occurred.

This seemed to change the momentum as Beckles-Richards fired wide when well placed before a calamitous piece of defending brought the visitors level in the 76th minute. MIchael Onovwigun had an effort saved by visiting keeper Gore, whose long clearance was allowed to bounce and substitute Obafemi nipped in to take the ball around Preston Edwards and score.

Nyren Clunis should then have put Dulwich back in front in the 83rd minute. He seixed on an error and raced on goal but with just the kepper to beat, he shot wide.

Preston Edwards had to make a spectacular save from a speculative effort from Pattie before disaster struck for The Hamlet in the last minute. Visiting left back Mavila blasted a cross low into the box and it deflected off Rickie Hayles and into the net.

Final Score 1-2
