Dulwich Hamlet 2-0 Enfield Town
Dulwich recorded a vital victory against in form Enfield Town with goals from Nelson & Murrell-Williamson in front of a season's best crowd of 2249.
Goals from Mitchell Nelson and Rhys Murrell-Williamson gave Dulwich victory in a very tight affair against one of the form teams in the league.
The game was played at a good tempo and was an end to end affair in which Enfield Town pethaps created more chances but were unable to make them count.
Phil Wilson had an early uncomfortable moment as he just managed to turn a flick on at a corner overy the top. Enfield Town had the more effective early possession as they pressed the ball high up the pitch and stooped Dulwich creating any momentum.
However, Dulwich created the first real chance as a great through ball released Ryan Moss clear on goal but Nathan McDonald got his angles spot on to beat away the resulting shot.
It took a magnificently timed challenge from the outstanding Ethan Pinnock to thwart Whitely as he looked to be clean through and this set Dulwich on the attack that would result in the first goal
Dean McDonald crossed from the right and Vilcu did well to get to the ball in front of Ryan Moss but at the expense of a corner. Ashley Carew floated the corner into the box where Mitchell Nelson rose to thump his header home and give Dulwich a 34th minute lead.
Dulwich produced a flowing move involving McDonald and Moss that left Nyren Clunis running at a retreating defence but this was ended by a foul by Muguo .
McDonald was involved in all the best things from The Hamlet but they were indebted for their half time lead to an alert Phil Wilson. He had to come out and head clear as a dangerous ball over the top caught out the Dulwich defence.
Half Time 1-0
Enfield Town opened the second half on top and Tyler Campbell went close twice; firstly shooting just wide and then forcing Wilson into a good save. He went even closer from a well worked corner routine but Ashley Carew cleared his effort off the line.
Dulwich almost conceded a bizarre own goal on the hour as Matt Drage turned and misplaced his pass back to Wilson who was relieved to see the ball go just wide.
Ex Hamlet favourite Harry Ottaway had a couple of presentable chances but couldn't find the target before Whitely missed a glorious 71st minute chance to level; shooting wide when well
placed.
Dulwich looked more dangerous after the introduction of Rhys Murrell-Williamson and he was to add the crucial second goal 10 minutes from the end. His driving run on the right ended with a good ball in to Dean McDonald who turned in the box. His effort beat his namesake in the visitors goal but was cleared off the line only for Murrell-Williamson to follow up and stab the ball home.
Dulwich were now able to relax a little more and although Enfield Town pushed forward they were unable to create any clear chances.
