Dulwich Hamlet 2-0 Hendon
Dulwich secured a hard fought victory without being at their fluent best.
Two scrappy second half goals gave The Hamlet victory in a game that never really came to life.
The first half was a non event from a Dulwich point of view as they failed to come to terms with the strong wind and during which they were unable to establish any rhythm.
It took 14 minutes of the first half for anything of note to occur as the game struggled to ignite. Jefferson Louis outmuscled Peter Adeniyi but curled his shot wide. Three minutes later Dulwich managed their first shot but Ian Daly's effort was wide.
Erhun Oztumer fired straight into the midriff of Hendon keeper Tomer Sherman in the 21st minute after a fine passing move. Nyren Clunis shot wide after a fine interchange between Erhun Oztumer and Ian Daly and the same two were involved in the best move of the half as Erhun Oztumer just failed to find Nyren Clunis.
It was right on half time that either keeper made a meaningful save as Sherman had to get down by his post to push away an Erhun Oztumer free kick.
Half Time 0-0.
It was Hendon who threatened first in the second half as the impressive Jefferson Louis outpaced Lewis Gonsalves but his cross was cleared.
The game resumed its stalemate until the 59th minute when Jerome Walker was set free on the right and his cross was missed by Erhun Oztumer but struck Ian Daly behind him and the ball crept over the line.
Two minutes later Hendon came close to an equaliser as Phil Wilson did well to push away a fine shot from Jefferson Louis. The same player also came close on 69 minutes but he shot wide on the turn.
Five minutes later Dulwich doubled their lead as a cross was headed backwards by Kershaney Samuels. Sherman was able to push the ball in the air but at this point the Hendon defence got itself into a tangle and the ball struck centre half Sam Flegg and rolled over the line.
There was no way back for the visitors and it was The Hamlet who came closest in the time remaining as a fine run from Ellis Green saw him find fellow substitute Xavier Vidal but he fired just over.
