Dulwich Hamlet 2-1 Herne Bay
An 84th minute winner from substitute Kevin James allowed Dulwich to prevail in a high quality game between the 3rd & 4th placed teams
The Hamlet were out of the blocks quickly and dominated proceedings early with Erhun Oztumer dictating play and he went close from an audacious long range shot and was brilliantly denied by Bay keeper Dan Eason. In between a brilliant free kick from Junior Kadi struck the inside of the post.
However, as the half went on Herne Bay grew into the game and were denied what looked like a blatant penalty when Louis Hollinsworth upended Byron Walker. To the dismay of everybody the referee waved it aside.
However Herne Bay took a lead into half time when Calum McGeehan curled a free kick over the wall. In fact Rhys Lawson should have put them 2 nil up but miskicked with the goal at his mercy.
Dulwich came out with renewed purpose after half time and they too were denied a penalty when Daniel Carr appeared to have his foot clipped as he stepped inside the defender to get a shot away.
Eventually The Hamlet equalised on 66 minutes as Erhun Oztumer slipped a delightful ball inside the full back and Ellis Green knocked it past the keeper.
The game continued to be evenly fought but it was Dulwich who got the winner when Ellis Green jinked in from the wing and crossed low for substitute Kevin James to slam into the net from six yards.
