Dulwich Hamlet 2-1 Kingstonian

Dulwich Hamlet 2-1 Kingstonian

Two goals in the last 14 minutes saw The Hamlet come from behind to secure the three points in front of another crowd in excess of 1000.

Phil Wilson returned in goal and it was only 2 minutes before he had the race out to clear from a short back pass as Dulwich struggled to get any rhythm.

Dulwich did go close in the 6th minute as Jordan Hibbert crossed from the right and Omar Koroma tried a spectacular bicycle kick. The ball was blocked but ran to Nyren Clunis who was thwarted by Tolfrey who was quick off his line and spread himself well to block.

A 10th minute cross from Frazer Shaw flashed across goal with neither Omar Koroma or Nyren Clunis able to get a decisive touch.

Kingstonian then had the better of a midfield battle without really testing Phil Wilson although it was only good defending from Michael Kamara that prevented a clear run on goal.

With the game becoming a stalemate it came as a surprise when Kingstonian took the lead in the 33rd minute; although what won't have surprised Dulwich fans is that it came from a set piece.

A corner was flicked on and nobody had tracked the run of Alan Inns who really couldn't miss.

Dulwich almost immediately equalised as Nyren Clunis turned inside on the left edge of the box and unleashed a shot that beat Tolfrey but crashed down off the bar and was cleared.

Kingstonian were now in the ascendancy and could have doubled their lead two minutes before half time. This time Inns got free at the far post but Kershaney Samuels was on hand to hack his goalbound header away.

Half Time 0-1

Dulwich made a slow start to a scrappy second half and it was definitely the visitors who looked most likely to score. Ninw minutes into the half Gomez was allowed to run unchallenged from close to half way; Wilson touching his shot wide.

Frazer Shaw had to head off the line and Gomez headed over when he should at least have made Wilson make a save. Kingstonian should have doubled their lead on 65 minutes as a long ball over the top saw Michael Kamara seem to leave the ball expecting somebody else to clear. This left Josh Casey with time and space to put the ball past Phil Wilson but he somehow put his shot wide.

The introduction of fresh players from the bench saw Dulwich finally get back into the game and at least look like putting some pressure on the Kingstonian defence. Kershaney Samuels had a shot easily held & Ashley Carew had one deflected wide.

Albert Jarrett had a free kick that was just wide before Dulwich got back on level terms in the 76th minute. Nyren Clunis made a determined run on the right and found Harry Ottaway. He stepped inside a defender and rifled a shot past Tolfrey low to his right.

There was an altercation amongst the players after a foul by Ashley Carew. The resulting free kick was blocked and cleared by Michael Kamara.

Inns then forced another save from Phil Wilson before Nyren Clunis had a great chance to win it as Ashley Carew found Harry Ottaway who pulled the ball back to the unmarked Clunis. However, he leant back and his shot flew too high.

Two minutes later, and with only three minutes remaining, it was Clunis who put The Hamlet in front as the ball was played across the box from the right and helped on by Kershaney Samuels to Nyren Clunis. He took the ball past the advancing Tolfrey and rolled the ball into the empty net.

Kingstonian poured forward in search of an equaliser but were unable to create any clear chances as Dulwich thwarted all their efforts.
