DULWICH HAMLET 2-2 HAMPTON & RICHMOND BOROUGH

DULWICH HAMLET 2-2 HAMPTON & RICHMOND BOROUGH

A goal 5 minutes into stoppage time by the prolific Charlie Moone rescued a point for the visitors as Dulwich squandered a 2 goal lead.

In front of another bumper crowd of 756 Dulwich were pegged back at the last by their in-form visitors.

The first opening of any sort came after 5 minutes. A good move involving Peter Adeniyi, Kershaney Samuels and Erhun Oztumer saw Nyren Clunis force visiting keeper Rodney Chiweshe into a fine save at his near post. However, in the first of a number of baffling decisions, a goal kick was awarded.

Five minutes later, a mistake by Justyn Roberts left Dean Lodge in on goal but he appeared to have been thwarted by Chiweshe as he tried to round the keeper. To everybody's surprise, the assistant referee indicated that a penalty should be awarded. This decision seemed a clear mistake but then, even more baffling, the referee showed only a yellow card to the keeper when this seemed to be a clear goalscoring opportunity.

Erhun Oztumer stepped up to convert the spot kick with his usual aplomb.

The visitors came close to an equaliser on 14 minutes as Powell flicked a header from a corner just over but it was The Hamlet who looked more threatening as the half wore on.

On 24 minutes Dean Lodge and Nyren Clunis combined on the left and the ball was transferred to Erhun Oztumer who fired over with his weaker right foot from 12 yards. Oztumer went close again in the 32nd minute as he fired wide after a knock down from Lewis Gonsalves.

Hampton went close again in the 37th minute, a cross leading to a scramble in the Hamlet box with the ball being hacked clear from in front of the line.

Two minutes later Dulwich doubled their lead, a fine swift break saw Erhun Oztumer find Nyren Clunis with a ball threaded between the centre backs and he finished confidently.

A fine save by Nlate from a well struck shot made sure that Dulwich went into the break with their two goal lead preserved.

Within four minutes of the start of the second half a mistake by Nlate let the visitors back into the match. A backpass meant that he needed to chest down and clear but, having got the first part right, he scuffed his clearance and Moone chipped home brilliantly.

Hampton went on to establish control of the second period as Tarpey fired over, Wanadio went close and James Simmonds flashed a shot inches wide. At the other end, Oztumer had a couple of shots that Chiweshe dealt with comfortably.

As the visitors pushed forward Ahmed Deen forced a good save from Chiweshe after good work from Jerome Walker. Walker was then sent clear and, with Chiweshe rushing out of his box,he tried to go round him but pushed the ball too wide when maybe he could have chipped over him.

Just as it seemed Dulwich had secured the win, a free kick was delivered into the box and two players failed in their attempts to clear. Moone swooped to fire home.

With only seconds now left Dulwich launched one final attack and, as Walker cut inside his marker, he appeared to be tripped but home appeals failed to convince the officials.
