DULWICH HAMLET 2-3 PETERBOROUGH UTD
The Hamlet got their pre season campaign underway with an impressive performance against their League One visitors.
A crowd of 737 saw the return of Hamlet cult figure Erhun Oztumer in the colours of The Posh.
It was Dulwich who were far the more impressive side in the opening 45 minutes as they controlled possession and the tempo of the game.
Dulwich introduced a number of new signings in their starting line up. Mitchell Neksob and Kristian Campbell filled the full back positions, Danny Waldren looked impressive in midfield and front pair Jacob Erskine and Damian Scannell showed potential up front.
Dulwich took a 6th minute lead as Scannell crossed, Erskine headed down and Nyren Clunus struck home the opening goal. However, Peterborough levelled within 2 minutes. Slack marking allowed a corner to be played to the unmarked Anderson on the edge of the penalty area and he fired home.
The visitors almost took an 11th minute lead from another corner but this time Ashley Carew cooly trapped the ball on the line before clearing.
Mitchell Nelson found Jacob Erskine who combined with Damian Scannell but the former's effort was just wide. Then good work from Nelson and Ashley Carew almost opened up the visitors.
Albert Jarrett was another who was getting plenty of joy on the right and, after he was fouled, his free kick saw Matt Drage get in front of the keeper but head over.
For the visitors, Erhun Oztumer was having a quiet game but he did have an opportunity on the half hour but was thwarted by Mitchell Nelson.
With half time approaching, a raking pass from Matt Drage found Nyren Clunus wide on the left but his cross eluded everybody in the box.
Half Time 1-1
A much changed Hamlet line up took to the field in the second half and mainly consisted of the younger squad members. However, they regained the lead shortly after the break as Matt Drage headed home.
However, as the half wore on the more experienced visitors took almost total control. Phil Wilson was in imperious form in The Hamlet goal, producing a number of outstanding stops. Despite his heroics, he was finally beaten as a ball delivered from the left found an unmarked Posh forward who slammed home
Wilson continued to defy all comers until the last minute when he was finally beaten after being left with no chance from point blank range.
