Dulwich Hamlet 3-1 Hendon
A youthful Hamlet line up overcame a Hendon side that was far more experienced to secure a place in the next round of the London Senior Cup.
Manager Gavin Rose rested the entire starting line up from Saturday's defeat at Hemel Hempstead but still found the formula to overcome what looked on paper to be a much stronger side. Oshane Brown was handed his debut in goal and also making a first appearance was Kristian Campbell at left back.
Billy Crook captained the side and anchored the midfield with Xavier Vidal whilst Marcel Henry- Francis returned up front. Tyler Myers partnered Marc-Anthony Okoye at the heart of the defence up against the vastly experienced Jefferson Louis whilst Kershaney Samuels was restored to right full back.
Cherno Mendy and Adeyinka Cole both started together with Abdul Mansaray.
It was Dulwich who opened the scoring as Marcel Henry- Francis was sent clear to the left of goal and he confidently beat the advancing Laurencin.
Hendon pressed forward and Oshane Brown made a fine diving save to keep out a shot from Diedhiou whilst at the other end Adeyinka Cole was just too high with a fine turn and shot. Cherno Mendy thought he had doubled the lead as he swept home a fine cross from Abdul Mansaray who, in turn, had been released into space behind the full back by an exquisite pass from Xavier Vidal, but he was thwarted by the assistant's flag.
At the other end Carl McCluskey could only direct his shot straight at Brown after a well worked short corner
left him with time to line up a shot. It was Xavier Vidal who came within a whisker of doubling the lead for The Hamlet as his brilliant 25,yard free kick crashed against the inside of the post with the keepef a mere spectator.
The best chance to take a two goal lead was spurned by Marcel Henry-Francis as he was presented with the ball by a poor pass across the edge of his own box by Hendon's Rhys Paul but somehow shot wide.
Half Time 1-0
The second half opened saw a rather scrappy opening with neither side able to gain the ascendancy but eventually Hendon took a grip on proceedings with Diedhiou firing just wide before Brown made a real mess of a clearance and presented it straight to O'Leary who promptly chipped it back into his hands. However, the equaliser did arrive as Louis flicked on and Antht Thomas beat Brown with ease.
Parity was short lived as Hendon failed to clear their lines on the edge of the box and Marcel Henry-Francis swept home his second to put The Hamlet back in front.
Dulwich then gave debuts to a pair of this year's Youth Team in right back Brandon Garner and winger Ramell Lake and it was the latter who sealed the win. Xavier Vidal drove forward from midfield and laid the ball off to Lake who delivered a curling left foot shot into the far corner.
Hendon's frustration was now apparent and was reflected in an horrendous challenge by Morgan on Lake that saw a melee develop and a deserved red card for the offender.
The last few minutes passed without in incident as the Dulwich youngsters completed an impressive evening's work that showed that there is further talent just waiting in the wings for its chance to impress.
Final Score 3-1.
