Dulwich Hamlet 3-3 Hampton & Richmond Borough

Dulwich Hamlet 3-3 Hampton & Richmond Borough

Dulwich turned in a patchy performance in which they had to come from behind twice to secure a point.

Dulwich were slow to get into the game and for the first half an hour were second best to their visitors. Hampton threatened to break through as early as the third minute but both their efforts were blocked.

Damian Scannell had an effort just wide in a rare attack for The Hamlet whilst Phil Wilson and then Pacquette somehow headed wide with the goal gaping.

It was no surprise when Hampton took a 14th minute lead as a through ball was perfectly weighted for Moone to beat the advancing Wilson. The Hamlet keeper also had to race out to gather another through ball and Jordan Hibbert did well to intercept when Hampton broke quickly from a Dulwich corner.

The best that the home side had managed was an effort from Scannell that went wide but against the run of play, they levelled the scores in the 33rd minute. A cross into the box from the right caused confusion and Damian Scannell blasted the loose ball home.to equalise.

Even more surprising was that two minutes later Dulwich were in front. Kevin James had a clear run on goal but sliced his effort wide. Damian Scannell retrieved the ball from the by-line and it found its way back to James who thumped home from 20 yards.

Dulwich were now on top but failed to get to the break in front. Phil Wilson saved well from point blank range and the follow up effort was blocked at point blank range by Jordan Hibbert. Not a single shout for a penalty came from the visiting players or their fans behind the goal but the referee pointed to the spot. Dean Sinclair sent Wilson the wrong way.

At the other end, Hampton keeper Brown was booked for bringing down Murrell-Williamson close to the by-line and from the resulting free kick, a visiting defender nearly put through his own goal.

Half Time 2-2

Dulwich were behind again 5 minutes after the break when a slick move down the Hampton right released Pacquette who blasted low and hard past Wilson.

Hampton now looked the more likely to score as a corner caused confusion in the home defence and the ball was deflected just wide. Dulwich then had a chance to level as Waldren played an inch perfect ball I snide the full back for the overlapping Nelson. His cross was pushed out by Brown and hacked clear.

Hampton then had a goal ruled out for pushing at a free kick and Brown did well to push a ferocious shot from Hibbert wide before Dulwich drew level 13 minutes from time.

Ashley Carew played the ball wide to the right and as the cross came in low across the six-yard box, Willock got in front of his marker to convert.

The game continued to flow from end to end with Wilson saving low to his right and Carew firing a free kick just wide following a crude tackle by Kamara on Murrell-Williamson. Scannell had a chance to win it for Dulwich but, having turned inside on the right, sliced his shot wide.

Final Score 3-3
