Dulwich Hamlet 4-0 Merstham

Dulwich Hamlet 4-0 Merstham

Dulwich comfortably completed the double over Merstham with goals from Murrell-Williamson, Willock, Ckunis & Sweeney.

Dulwich were slow to get started and it wasn't until the 9th minute that they threatened but Rhys Murrell-Williamson fired wide.

Dulwich could have gone behind in the 14th minute as Reece Hall got in behind Jordan Brown and shot across goal where Aaron Rhule failed to convert the chance; his shot being deflected over.

The resulting corner actually saw Dulwich take the lead. The clearance fell to Rhys Murrell-Williamson half way inside the Dulwich half. He set off on a mesmerising run that took him past the Merstham rearguard and he fired the ball left footed into the corner of the goal.

In a rare Merstham attack, Hamlet player Kershaney Samuels forced Phil Wilson to get down smartly to his 20 yard effort as the visitors looked to level the score but it was Dulwich who started to take a real grip on the game.

Ethan Pinnock forced a save from Makiese in the visitors goal after the keeper had punched the ball to the edge of the box and Dulwich passed up a great chance to double their lead with only 23 minutes played.

Great interplay on the left between Nyren Clunis & Jordan Brown saw the latter get to the byline. He pulled the ball back to Calum Willock who shot wide from in front of goal when less than 10 yards out.

In the 26th minute Makiese flapped at a cross but Willock couldn't turn the ball home. However just a minute later Willock was on the score sheet as a clearance rebounded back to him and he made no mistake.

A rare mistake from Ethan Pinnock gave Rhule a chance to reduce the arrears in the 33rd minute but he was crowded out at the expense of a corner.

Just as it seemed that Merstham would get to the break without conceding again, Dulwich added a third in stoppage time at the end of the half. A good low delivery from the left saw Nyren Clunis ghost in behind his marker and fire into the net from 6 yards out.

Half Time 3-0

Dulwich added a fourth goal just 5 minutes after the break as Clunis got to the byline on the right and pulled the ball back for Dan Sweeney to fire home for the 6th consecutive game.

That was the end of the scoring but there were a number of chances created although Dulwich were generally content with their lead. Substitute Jack Dixon had a 56th minute effort blocked and Ethan Pinnock had a long range effort that Makiese spilled but both Clunis & Scannell failed to capitalise.

A flowing move ended with a Clunis effort being saved before a terrific save from Phil Wilson preserved his clean sheet. Jake Rose fired a free kick from the edge of the box but Wilson got across his goal to tip the ball on to the post and behind for a corner,

Rhys Murrell-Williamson then embarked on a run down the left but his cross to the far post saw no Hamlet player attacking the ball. Phil Wilson made a good stop from Saraiva and saved a free kick from the same player in the final minute.
