Dulwich Hamlet 5-1 Kingstonian
Dulwich crushed Kingstonian in front of a season high crowd of 1713 at Champion Hill this afternoon.
The Dulwich side showed only one change from the victory at Grays, with Jordan Hibbert replacing the injured Jordan Brown.
The Hamlet opened brightly and Mitchell Nelson headed wide from a 5th minute Ashley Carew free kick, but it was Kingstonian who took an 11th minute lead. The impressive Harold Odamatey drove at the heart of the Dulwich defence and found Ricky Sappleton who shot into the corner of the net. However, this turned out to be their only shot on target all afternoon.
Dulwich were behind for only 11 minutes. Ashley Carew lined up a free kick and his shot on goal was headed in by the onrushing Danny Waldren.
Dean McDonald fired just wide after good work on the left and it took a couple of great saves from Rob Tolfrey in the Ks goal to keep the scores level. Matt Drage carried the ball out and lifted the ball forward to Ryan Moss. His volley was parried by Tolfrey who then thwarted the follow up effort from McDonald.
Dulwich then took the lead on the half hour. Dean McDonald received the ball with his back to goal on the edge of the box and to the right of goal. He spun his marker and got to the byline, from where he drove the ball across goal for Ryan Moss to convert for his first home goal for The Hamlet.
Dulwich extended the lead in the 39th minute after McDonald was brought down 25 yards out. Ashley Carew stepped up to strike a stunning free kick over the wall and past Tolfrey, despite his valiant efforts to get across.
Kingstonian did have a chance to get back into the game two minutes before the break but Dan Bennett shot wide after a period of pressure.
Half Time 3-1
Dulwich got a fourth goal just three minutes into the second half. An Ashley Carew free kick caused confusion in the visitors defence and Ethan Pinnock hooked the ball home.
Sappleton had a half chance in the 54th minute but the ever dependable Ethan Pinnock got back to thwart him. Dulwich then almost had a fifth as McDonald, Moss and Scannell combined but Scannell finished a sweeping move with a weak shot.
McDonald & Clunis combined but McDonald had his effort deflected over. Clunis also had an effort blocked, before Tolfrey pulled off another fine stop by pushing a long range Carew effort wide. Pinnock had another effort that was off target but Dulwich did get their 5th goal in the 71st minute.
Damian Scannell disposessd a defender and advanced to the right of goal before rolling the ball into the path of Ryan Moss who scored into the empty net.
Dulwich came close to a sixth goal when a mishit pass by Ethan Pinnock got caught on the wind and almost deceived Tolfrey. The Ks keeper then pulled off a stunning save from Albert Jarrett, whose shot seemed to be heading into the top corner until the keeper's fingertips took it on to the bar and over.
Final Score 5-1
