Dulwich Hamlet 5-2 VCD Athletic

Dulwich Hamlet 5-2 VCD Athletic

Dulwich comfortably defeated VCD although two late goals from the visitors took the gloss off it slightly.

Mitchell Nelson was restored to the starting line up with Matt Drage replacing him on the bench.

Dulwich opened quickly with some slick passing and took a 3rd minute lead as Scannell slipped in Jacob Erskine to comfortably beat Thomas in the visitors goal.

Erskine blazed over the top and Thomas saved from Carew. Ex Hamlet player Niger Neita forced Phil Wilson into a low save as VCD came more into the game.

Rhys Murrell-Williamson went on a slaloming run, beating a number of defenders, but was thwarted by Thomas rushing off his line. A minute later, Murrell-Williamson & Jordan Brown combined on the left and the former's cross was volleyed over by Erskine.

In the 31st minute Dulwich doubled their lead as Brown & Murrell-Williamson combined again and this time Erskine volleyed home for his & Dulwich's second.

Dulwich extended their lead further three minutes later as Mitchell Nelson headed home from an Ashley Carew corner.

VCD came close in the 43rd minute as Kojo Awotwi delivered a cross but nobody could get on the end of it.

Half Time 3-0

Dulwich were slow to get going after half time although Danny Waldren & Jacob Erskine both fired wide whilst VCD substitute Koranteng also fired wide.

The visitors came close just before the hour mark as Wickham delivered a cross from their right but Vines couldn't quite reach it at the far post.

Murrell-Williamson then had an effort saved after he intercepted a cross field pass and Erskine had an effort deflected wide from a Nelson cross.

Dulwich added a 4th goal in the 74th minute as he unleashed an unstoppable shot from 25 yards that nestled in the keeper's bottom right corner beyond his despairing dive.

With 10 minutes remaining Damian Scannell delivered a cross from the left that deflected into the path of Josh Fernandes who passed the ball into the net.

VCD struck back in the 83rd minute as Wickham finished off a neat move. Fernandes had an effort saved as Dulwich looked for a sixth before, in stoppage time, Koranteng added more respectability to the score as he finished neatly after getting in behind the defence.

Final Score 5-2
